it is totally a mind game.

you could always push your skill with non-fc plays tho, fcs arent that important

but if you really want fcs you could try shift tabbing which hides your combo counter. make sure you get your 7 hours of sleep, at least 20-30 minutes exercise daily (including 10 minutes cardio), maybe wash your hands with bar soap before every session to kill sweat.

you could also try rituals for Locking in, what i do is to remind myself that this play im setting is just another stepping stone, probably gonna fc anyways... or something like that

If u can't get rid of the nerves/adrenaline, then u may as well redirect that energy into performing well instead of crumbling under pressure. Atleast that's how I think about it.

Whether u focus on u breathing, listening to music, reading pattern, sing the ABC's in ur head, etc. Anything that stops u from overthinking and gettin excessively excited.

Focus on other things, usually I focus on keeping my accuracy centered and try to get as many 320s in a row as possible, this keeps me focused on accuracy without directly stressing about accuracy, because I don't care if I get a few 200s, all I want is to get as many 320s as I can, understand that combo is irrelevant when it comes to skill in this game, getting a higher accuracy should be your priority, and the moment you stop caring is when you will start getting better combo as a result

Essentially going into a play don't go with a strict goal in mind, focus on something broad that is not difficult to hold so you don't get nervous because you're not expecting anything to begin with, when you have no expectations and just play, and the less meaning you give it the less it will affect you, giving you more control as a result

essentially what Ska said, just a different approach from me.

the way I go about this, is turning off my combo+accuracy using Shift + TAB during warmup. I don't exactly worry about what I'm hitting at, I usually allow the UR bar to guide my hits. Too early? adjust. Too late? adjust. I will still get a positive result in my MA:PA hits regardless, and with so little happening on my screen, it makes it easier to focus.

I mainly do this for HR mod (well, it's just annoying to see the "Unranked" text at the top of the screen, but this is where the idea originated and developed from).

you'll get some unexpected results, perhaps even terrible results. Depends on what you're playing at. Would of course strongly suggest doing maps you can easily S and build up from.

i feel like this an issue depending on why youre going for FCs and SSs, if its for improvement then i feel like just aiming for S ranks is a better idea and if you wanna train acc then go for like 99% scores

if you wanna get alot of SSs and FCs because you wanna or have a goal or whatever then assuming your sfx is not at 0 you can just make a dupe skin without the combo counter or offscreen if you really dont wanna see it and for SSs then honestly i can only say you can either learn to not notice or learn to ignore it. before, ive had issues with noticing good plays but now i have no problem in scores for improvement and its only a problem when i tried to SS songs a few times

I have severe attention deficit and a get very anxious when i cant hit the notes so i usually aim for S and keep working my way up
Also im just very bad at osu in general but yeah just keep playing till u get confident enough also play with the speed a little bit higher than usual and then lower it i find it easier idk or just play higher difficult and then come back ts usually helps me
idk hope u figure it out ilopve u bro keep grindin

Ska put into words exactly what I've been doing since I started playing the game, and is probably some of the best advice you can hear. Essentially just follow that mindset and eventually you won't even be thinking about FCs or SSs, they'll just happen naturally. I'd also add on that practicing longer maps (4min+) is great for nerve control as well. Combine all of that with occasionally playing multi lobbies for a (somewhat) tournament feel and you're set.
