Problem details:

I understand what the score meter at the bottom is showing, but I’m having trouble figuring out the difference bw the arrow above it and the vertical lines on the meter.

I thought the arrow indicated the accuracy of the most recent hit, but sometimes when I hit a note like super off, a line pops up at the edge of the meter and the arrow barely moves from the center.
Is that bc the next note comes in before the arrow reaches to the point where it should be?

My apologies if this question has been asked before or if I didn’t explain things clearly enough.

osu! version: Stable 20250620.1 (latest)

the arrow is the medium hit based on the recent hits, the vertical lines are all the hits left is too fast and right to slow

The arrow is your recent average, not real-time average. When you hit too early, the lines will be on the left, and if you hit too late, it'll be on the right. Blue is 300, green is 100, and yellow/orange is 50. The arrow makes an average of the last few circles (doesn't depend on OD or anything)

Hope it helps! And no need to apologize for asking, that's what the forums are here for!

Thx for the replies!
Do any of you guys happen to know how many hits are used for the recent average for the arrow?

no worries! and I'm not sure, but I'd say between 5 and 10, not many at all

Looking at stable code I don't know if any information given here is accurate, actually. It doesn't look like the arrow is pointing at the median.

I'm not sure what the arrow is pointing at either, mind. It looks like some sort of decaying / convergent sum, where on every hit, the arrow moves to a position that's 80:20 between the previous position of the arrow and the offset of the latest hit.
