I Dont Even Know Anymore

A skin ive been creating, using and modifying thoughout 5+ years now.

Why did this dumb skin took 5 years to make?
I've always shared stuff publicly online only when im happy with how they look. In the case of this skin, to get to that point, it took me at least 5 years, with a mix of getting random inspirations just to lose the urge to continue 1 month later, and me changing my mind about what i like and what i dont (tho some of the elements in the skin have been the same since 2019/2020)

It's also important to take in count that, even tho i had 0 experience with skins, I forced myself to not use stuff from other skins as much as i can, and to always try make stuff that was different from the norm at the time (tho most of the things i did are now the norm lol)

How is the skin like? (screenshots & general info)

  1. The skin has 2 versions, one for osu!Stable, and other for osu!Lazer, which has customized overlays for each gamemode (this sadly makes some, if not most, storyboard heavy maps for taiko and mania need you to change skin, since elements placed in the playfield layer are always on top of storyboards). This is another reason why it took so long to make.

NOTE: CTB and STD have custom elements placed on purpose on HUD layers so when you hide the HUD it only hides part of it (because i like playing those gamemodes with those stats hidden), thats why they have 2 screenshots
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  2. Every mod is skinned, and contains custom sprites for DANSER (or what some people sadly only know it as, o!rdr). These sprites make Lazer exclusive mods supported by danser to have a design that fits the rest of the mod icons rather than the red glass skin like design danser uses by default. (all of this only in the stable version of the skin)

  3. some extra info/facts
    • -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    1. I'm (not :]) sorry for whoever gets jumpscared by the welcome message.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    2. Theres an extra folder with alts for some sprites (dont expect much tho)
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    3. The inconsistency between gamemode HUDs is because of the 5 years gap some sprites have.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    4. (Almost) Every sprite was made from scratch by me.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    5. Mania support up to 9 keys (i feel like almost no one plays maps above 9k)
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    6. Originally was going to be a complex skin, but ended up making it somewhat minimalistic.

Note to anyone that actually tries this skin out
If you have any complain/problem with the skin, feel free to tell me so i can try and make it better, specially if its regarding CTB since i feel its the worst thing this skin has.

Credits and inspirations
  1. the Followpoint was created by - Koshiin -, taken from their skin -#KW-! Mountain 山 with their permision (thanks again for this)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  2. Most Hitsounds were taken from a skin called "LuckDOTexe", found in Yasen's about me section (first link). The original creator of these is unkown to me. If someone knows who that is, please tell me.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  3. The Miss/combobreak sound is a sfx taken from a decompiled version of the original Silent Hill 2. Which plays when you hit a wood plank/stick against something (a.k.a. bonk)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  4. Fail screen music is the start of Rolling Down The Street, In My Katamari by Fearofdark
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  5. Clap sound at the result screen is the entirety of Ordinary Days V2 by Klaus Veen (part of Lethal League Blaze OST)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  6. The entirety of mania was HIGHLY "inspired" by VIVID/STASIS (i really like this game)

Download (Google drive)

If you havent already, check the skin's basic info's 1st point to know why theres 2 versions.

19/06/2025: updated lazer version to have option to see in-game leaderbards since they changed it to be a skinneable item.

osu!Lazer's version

WARNING: using HUD scaling breaks the position of elements that are on the playfield layer. You can change or remove them by hand if you want tho.

osu!Stable's version

ignore the fact i edited this 20 times please :]

Thank you for making an Osu Lazer compatible skin! I've been looking for one for ages now and you are the first that I've seen that has made one specifically for Osu Lazer. It's great btw.

Nice to see lazer specific skin!

But it doesn't survive UI scaling. When using 1.15x scaling many of the HUD elements gets pushed off screen or weirdly positioned, screenshots attached below.

I think thats a Lazer bug. The elements that go offscreen are only those placed on the Playfield layer of the skin.

Its almost as if with HUD scalling, Lazer thinks the size of the playfield itself was also changing, hence the change of position of these elements.

Might report/ask about this in the Lazer github forums later

The component is anchored to the wrong side of the screen. This can be changed in the skin layout editor and is not a bug. (Unless the anchoring is correct)

They are not anchored to the wrong side of the screen.

The elements affected by this, as i mentioned before, are on the Playfield layer, wich uses the playfield borders as its limits insteads of the screen itself. This makes elements to move around when CS is higher or lower since the playfield also becomes a bit bigger or smaller with CS.

The reason these elements are on this layer is that I wanted to make these elements to stay on screen after hiding the HUD, but i didnt like that they moved around when the CS changed, so to work around this, they are all anchored to the center of the screen/playfield. So theres no way they are anchored to the wrong side

So they are anchored to the wrong place, you just have a reason for them to be there

i guess you are right, but still doesnt really make sense for them to go offscreen if they are anchored to the center and not one of the borders, specially when they are in Playfield layer (imo).

I think its logical HUD scaling should only change the scale of elements on the HUD layers, and not those in the Playfield layer, as this is technically not HUD.

Anyways, its not that big of a deal, people can just move the elements by hand if they really want to or remove them from the playfield layer and even move them to HUD layers.

I'll edit the post to warn people about it.

As I'm typing, this is probably my favourite skin. I really love Mania's coloured background instead of black that people tend to make, and the colour coding for 4K being grouped for left hand and right hand. Thanks for the skin!
