[resolved] [osu!lazer] Game crashes instantly when I open it

Problem details:
Whenever I click to open it in the start menu it opens, freezes black screen and then closes itself. I tried the installer repair tool and it worked after I ran it two times, but then after I shut down the computer and turned it on again osu! just crashed like before. I didn't do anything special in my computer in between the sessions where the game was working and when it started crashing except for a windows update (KB5058411)

Please upload the game's logs to a media sharing website (like google drive, or file host), there's a button to extract them in the settings.

Also can you check to see if the event viewer has anything inside it, and if it does can you attach it here through a screenshot or the raw text?

If you're not able to upload the logs directly from the game, on Windows the default location is

%AppData%/osu/logs

(just .zip the whole folder and upload it somewhere then link it here)

I didn't see anything in the even viewer, though that could be me not being familiar with the tool. Logs are linked at the end of the reply.

Also, I just tried opening it again 5x or so and it crashed 3 out of 5 and opened normally the other two. In my initial post I forgot to mention that I am using a different skin from standard and that I was using an experimental engine (Vulkan Experimental if I'm not mistaken). Don't know it this information will be of help but decided to mention just in case!

You're using the vulkan renderer which is - as the settings option itself says - experimental (read: unstable) and we are not looking to fix it at this time, and I bet that is the source of the crashes.

Please go to %AppData%/osu, open the framework.ini file in notepad, delete the line starting with Renderer =, save the change, and try running the game again. Or just change the renderer in-game if you can get it to launch.

Hi, thank you for the help! I ran the installer repair tool once again and managed to launch the game and change the renderer back to Automatic. It seems to be running fine now!
It took me a while to remember that I had changed the engine rendering the game because it was running perfectly fine until a couple days ago, but now that I changed it back it seems the crashes really did stop. So thank you all once again for the help!
