Pick Your Own Pool Tournament

Discord | Challonge | Main Sheet

Tournament Format and Rules

Important points:
  1. 1v1, ScoreV2, Double elimination
  2. No rank limit. But you should be comfortable playing well above 5*
  3. 32-player double elimination. Single-elim preliminary if lots of sign ups
  4. Players will select the maps for their own pool each week. During matches, they pick maps from their opponent's selected pool
  5. If there's a difference between the rules listed here and on the Discord server, the ones in the server are correct
General Rules
  1. Matches are 1v1, ScoreV2
  2. BO 7, 7, 9, 9, 9, 11
  3. 3 tiebreakers will be selected by staff each week
  4. There are no bans
  5. NF will be used on all maps
  6. Pick maps from your opponent's pool
  7. If the same map is in both players' pools, either player may pick the map, but it may only be picked once in the match
    1. If the selected mod is different in either pool, the one used depends on who picked the map. The map may still only be picked once
  8. Different difficulties of the same mapset are considered different maps. Unless one is just a copy of the other with different settings (eg. AR)
Mappool Maps
  1. 2 maps for each mod bracket (NoMod, HD, HR, DT, Custom Mod). 10 maps in total
  2. You pick the mods to use for Custom Mod when you add the map to your pool
    1. Mod can be any combination from HD/HR/DT/EZ/HT
    2. The two CM maps don't need to use the same mods
  3. Maps need to be within a certain star range for each week:
    1. Week 1: 5.00 - 5.75
    2. Week 2: 5.15 - 6.00
    3. Week 3: 5.30 - 6.25
    4. Week 4: 5.45 - 6.50
    5. Week 5: 5.60 - 6.75
    6. Week 6: 5.75 - 7.00
  4. Each map should have a drain time between 1:00 and 5:00
    1. Two maps are allowed to be outside the drain limit by 15 seconds each
    2. The full length of a map must be below 6:00
    3. Time is taken after DT/HT is applied
  5. Total pool drain time must be between 18:20 and 32:30 (1:50-3:15 average per map)
  6. If a map has less than 3 passes with the selected mod on its leaderboard, or no leaderboard at all, you must submit a screenshot on that map showing a pass with the selected mods.
    1. The accuracy in the submitted screenshot should be at least 80%
    2. Passes should be without NF. Though NF will be used during the match
  7. Unranked maps are okay as long as they aren't outrageously unreasonable
    1. This means things like 2b, objects outside the playfield, improperly timed notes, etc. will generally be rejected
    2. You may not pick pending or graveyard maps mapped by a player or staff in the tournament (Loved, etc. are subject to regular conditions as above)
    3. Maps must have been submitted before the start of registrations
  8. Maps requiring the use of special skins or storyboard will be rejected
  9. Tournament staff reserve the right to reject maps for other reasons if they feel the map isn't appropriate for the tournament
Mappool Submission
  1. Submit maps using a website created for the tournament (#links in discord server)
  2. Submissions for the next set of matches are locked at the end of Monday UTC
  3. Maps can be changed at any time before pools are locked
  4. If you don't submit a pool, or submit a partial pool, the empty spaces will be filled in by staff when pool submissions close
  5. You may not use the same map multiple weeks in a row
  6. Different difficulties of the same set can be used in the same pool
    1. Unless the diff is basically just the same map with different AR or two notes changed etc
  7. Time and star requirements are very strict. Eg 32:30 total drain is okay, 32:31 is not.
Match Information
  1. A referee will make contact a few minutes before match time to make sure both players are ready
  2. If a player isn't in the lobby by 10 minutes after match time they forfeit the match
  3. Once both players are in the lobby, each player may select 1 warmup map of less than 4 minutes
  4. There are no bans, higher roll picks first
  5. Players pick maps from their opponent's pool
    1. If the same map is in both players' pools, then either player may pick the map. But it may only be picked once during the match
    2. If different difficulties of the same mapset are in each pool, they are treated as different maps
    3. Maps which are basically the same with different AR etc are still considered the same map
  6. Players take turns picking maps until one wins or a TB is needed
    1. Players will message the ref to ban one TB
    2. The remaining TB will be played, or if both players banned the same one the ref will !roll to pick
    3. Tiebreakers will be freemod, picking a mod isn't required
    4. EZ will be multiplied by 1.8x
