Since i started playing osu lazer i was able to pass much more new maps for me. Probably because of notelock difference.

My question is: are the lazer still good competetive option or stable is better? I feel like if i go back on stable i will lose some skills (or just would play worse than on lazer)

I like osu! lazer because of more functions (DT x1.0 -> 2.0, Difficulty Adjust mods, etc.) and new fresh design looks so good for me, but if it has bad impact on my skill abilities i will look into stable again

Also, i don't have any serious performance issues on lazer version (same as on stable)

lazer is definitely the correct choice if you like playing on it

  1. diff adjust and rate changes make sure your improvement isn't hindered by a lack of maps
  2. slider acc forces you to play the game correctly (and gives you more pp)
  3. no notelock
  4. sliderend leniency actually makes sense
  5. to account for certain kinds of hard-to-detect cheese playstyles, pp calculation has to just assume a worst-case scenario sometimes. lazer stores more information about your plays than stable, so these types of nerfs will hit lazer scores less often

So it turns out slider breaks are counted as misses in lazer but not in stable. That wasn't really an issue when combo scaling existed since either way it broke your combo.

In a post CSR world however, where miss count is paramount to pp values, it is massive. I know I have several A rank 1 misses that would have been 0 miss FCs had I been playing stable.

I personally prefer lazer because I like being properly rewarded for accing sliders. Even if it means I get penalized for slider breaks.

Also the client really does feel better to me.
