Guitar Hero 5 introduced an interesting feature called Focus Mode, that makes everything outside of the fretboard a blank black screen so players focusing on FCing or getting the high score on a song won't get distracted.
I was thinking that something similar could be incorporated into osu!. It could take away the background, video, storyboard, flames, kiai time, and combobursts without the player having to individually delete or disable them, and still give them the option to turn everything back on from the Options menu.
