How do skins affect your gameplay?

Hello, there! So, the title is pretty self-explanatory. I've been wanting to ask this question for years but, never like until now. Personally, I do feel a certain difference in my gameplay depending on what skin I use. Sometimes I even change skins before certain maps, because I just know that my performance will be better. Maybe I'm just a perfectionist, but oh well!
  1. Feel free to share your preferred skins. You can even link them.

Outside my main skin just working with me without realising till I used it, I just play with skins and if it works it does

I use a custom skin just for me because I don't feel like using a popular skin like the WhiteCat one or the Vaxei one.

The only exception is the Rafis DT skin because it helps me with HDDT lol

Skins can help u read certain patterns, im using cookiezi rafis edit skin for std (dont play much std but still)

I change my skin a lot, I even download most of the skins that come out on the osuskins subreddit just to try them out. I change my skin a lot because some skins just feel better reading-wise than others some days, I don't know how people stick to one skin.

However, there are some skins that I generally prefer over most skins:
1. TheKushVanMan's skin
2. Fop's skin for FL
3. Sytho's skin / doki's skin (similar to the one he uses in his pumpin' junkies pass video)
4. Doomsday's skins (v2.7 and v2.3)
5. Varies THORWAVE skin remakes I've made (all matrix skin edits)
6. Willy's skin
7. Various default skin edits (some lazer default skins)

I could name more, but to keep my reply short those are the skins I mostly use whenever I'm not changing skins constantly.

It's preferential for how much information you want to get. The default skin just bombard you with too much things, it's hard to focus on the circle. People tend to you use the least information given, like removing the 300s, makes the 100s, 50s, and misses into one dot of green, blue, and red; use less saturated color, removing the trail animation or the trail entirely.

But I prefer to have the 300s visible and the color more vibrant because it helps with HD and feels more responsive (for some reason) but with less animation and particles unlike the default skin. So I use saigetsu. This skin is intended for a map with the same name, but I like it

i dont really see a difference in gameplay across skins, like i can use old skins with slider ends and lighting the exact same as i can use the sweaty no cool asset skins that are just black and white lol

idk if people talk about this but skins without slider ball ring seems to make tech maps/slider heavy maps easier to play

skin with darker combo colors like tekkito's skin is actually so good if you need high gamma to read high ar

Personally I like skins that are bright in colors and simple, as in there isn't anything "extra" going on I guess? Just easier to play that way

I've also noticed even if you prefer a specific skin it sometimes helps if you switch to a different one anyway once in a while, idk does it like refresh your brain or what but at least with me it tends to help with gameplay significantly

I normally use Single #TM

Also made a remix between [AK] Nakiri Ayame and PINKOUT DX that I use from time to time (pinkout with hit objects&hit sounds from nakiri ayame)

That's it, literally. These two comments just complete each other; 100%, cause if you get way too much visual information all of the time, it's kinda like your eyes get tired but, if you have less information, it's like your brain gets accommodated.

Very little assuming the skin isn't straight horrible, although for some reason rafis skin increases the ar I can read by like 0.2

I don't play with skins. Skins are mid. Cool, sure, but still mid.

Never seen a default man before, it's so good

I play any osu skin I feel like playing. I don't rely on playing mods the skin was used for as I sometimes use rafis dt skin while playing ezhd or use a skin with no numbers/colors to improve reading circles when they appear. I mostly edit every skin I use by adding anime grils to them myself and sometimes just use anime girl skins with combo bursts and I also always play with hit 300's as I find it easier to know where I tapped with HD it's hard to explain.

Edit:

Default skin is still a skin lol, playing without a skin is playing with invisible circles. Default skin is still pretty cool because I like hit 300's but I can't play the same skin without getting bored and changing skins.

Basically the definition of "playing without a skin"

some skins are just easier to read and see circles more clearly and some high contrast skins make higher AR look slower like rafis skin. i use monkoedit for no mod/HD/HR/HDHR and rafis skin for anything DT
