Hi, first post here.

I recently tried making my own beatmaps and experimented a bit with audio quality. The wiki states that the beatmap audio must use either the .mp3 or .ogg container format. What is not specified on the wiki page is the actual codecs that the client supports, which for .ogg is apparently only Vorbis. I tried both Opus and FLAC Audio in an .ogg container and they didnt work.

Is this an error on my side or does the game not support those codecs? I couldnt find any other information about it in the wiki.

That is correct, osu! does not support those codecs. I suppose the wiki can be updated to make that clearer. Feel free to make a Ranking Criteria proposal to clarify this.

Edit: Since this is a minor fix, you should probably post here instead.

I dont know if changing the Ranking Criteria page alone would help. Not a single wiki page mentions the codecs, so changing it only there would be strange. The wiki refers to the container formats on a lot of pages, so it would only need to explain that when the ".ogg file format" is mentioned it actually means Ogg Vorbis exclusively.
