Should I Buy a Keypad?

So recently I've been thinking about looking at one of those two key keypads that a lot of people use because I've been told my keyboard sucks for osu a lot. It really doesn't bother me but it is the default when people are talking about bad keyboards for you. "just don't get a blue switch red dragon or something like that."

I was just wondering if it would be worth it and if so what kind of switches should I try? I want to get a modular one and test different kinds.

(I know nothing about keyboards other than they go click click.)

I recently watched this video about keyboard, there is a keyboard spreadsheet in the comment section.
For me I will just buy a better keyboard, it is heavier and more stable on the desk.

Usually player use linear switch for rhythm game (e.g. red, black or speed silver), avoid the clicky and tactile one (e.g. blue, brown).

A keypad isn't necessary if you are comfortable with what you're using and you don't feel limited by it. You can get very far in any rhythm game with a membrane or whatever you are using. One of the top mania players has used a membrane in some of their scores and they play pretty much just as well.

Though if you do want to get one and you have the money, I would suggest to go for an actual mech keyboard rather than a keypad, it can serve you for many other games and stuff other than osu, on top of just feeling nice to type on.

As for switches and stuff, just do some research and see what would best suit your style, see what your favorite players are using, watch youtube vids, etc.

I think buying a mech keyboard is more worth money or you can go for a mech numpad

thanks, guys! I was thinking of getting a keypad cause my keyboards work fine for other games and I don't want to buy two nice keyboards (separate parent type deal) and I take my tablet back and forth and a whole keyboard would be too much.

Thanks for the switch recommendations though- I don't know those but ill check em out.

appreciate the input

Update: ended up getting a keyboard after seeing that any keypad that looked like it would last was like 40$... Maybe I didn't look very well- but I ended up getting the corsair k70 with speed silvers cause it was on sale.
