Red & Brown Switches Pros and Cons

Hello there! I have been playing osu with my laptop keyboard for about a month now since my old membrane keyboard broke.

I was thinking of buying my First Mechanical keyboard and I've narrowed the switch I want to use to two, them being Red or Brown switches.

To those who have tried them before can you please give me their pros and cons so that I can decide which of the two to use?

Thanks.

My first mech keyboard aka the one I use now are brown switches, I just got them because some of the players I look up to use them. I can't speak for reds cause never tried them, but I'm abolutely in love with browns, even though its my first and only switch type. I have absolutely no complaints about them, I know lots of people rag on browns but I have no idea why. The little bump/actuation point is barely noticable, but just enough so that when you play high bpm bursts/streams you can just feel when they register so you dont have to bottom out the keys everytime, which saves stamina.

How is the finger control for brown switches?

I have no issues, at least from the keyboard xD I think that will be pretty much the same between reds and browns cause they are the same weight. But I know players like Vaxei and Kablaze use browns, and they're known for having incredible finger control. Also a bunch of top mania/4k vsrg players also use browns.

But I think since its your first mech, you can't really make a mistake, those are two really popular switch types, you will definitely be happy either way!

I've been using browns for more than a year now, and I can't tell if I notice the bumps or not to be quite honest with you. I think I would notice it if they weren't there, but yeah. Browns are a good first pick. They're the middle between reds and blues. If you buy browns, you might be able to tell if the next thing you want should have more or less, you know what I mean?

I've used both browns and reds, and honestly its just preference (obviously). At the moment i prefer browns over reds because I like them a little more although I can almost can't tell the difference. Honestly if you get browns or reds theyre both gonna do the same thing so get whatever you want. or you can get BLUES and let the world know that you are shamelessly tapping to osu

Blues were my plans originally just for the memes, but I saw some videos saying that blue switches are alright but not recommended for osu!

I got brown for about 2-3 years and then bought red.

Like what some above said, the "bumping" part can help you to know when to hit notes extremely accurately. Reds require you to press all the way down to ensure the keys are registered as it's hard to tell. However, the energy to do this is very little since reds are quite light.

On the downside, browns are slightly more stamina intensive as it is slightly heavier than reds. This only applies to mostly long streams or maps with many bursts and streams. However, it can be trained by playing more. Also, constant finger and hand exercise to build a bit of muscle there for browns. (I'm serious, it really helps)

Also if noise is your concern, browns are a bit noisier than reds due to the bump.

In conclusion, as some said here, I say browns as a first start and intro to mech keyboards then maybe once more money, try out reds.

Yeah Imma go with brown, also my first choice was blue switches BECAUSE they were noisy... so yeah noise isn't a problem.
