Problem details: osu keeps scrolling up on the songs i have tried all sorts of techniques and nothing worked (or worked for some minutes then came back)
help would be appreciated

Make sure you do not have any controllers or joysticks connected to your PC. If you do, please try disconnecting them.

If you are still having issues, try pressing the up arrow on your keyboard to see if that gets the scrolling to stop.

i unplugged my controller way before and it still persisted

That implies you did have a controller plugged in though, right? Have you tried restarting your PC since you unplugged it?

i did have a controller plugged in before and yes i did restart my pc after unplugging, it helped it for a minute - five then came back

The 1 2 keys on the numpad?

Try this: Make sure numlock is disabled and then try pressing 2, 3, 8, and 9 on the numpad to see if any one of those keys stops the game from scrolling.

no, 1 2 on the numbers above the letters
have already tried that and it didnt work

edit: only thing that party helped was when i held 2 on the numpad it didnt scroll but after letting it go it kept scrolling up

And you're positive you don't have any sort of controllers or anything else still connected to your PC? There has to be something, maybe even just software used to remap the controller to keyboard keys (if you have something like that installed) that is tricking the game into thinking you are scrolling.

Pretty much out of ideas otherwise.

Holding 2 down on the numpad will just cause you to scroll down, counteracting whatever is causing you to scroll up.
