Is it ok to use laptop keyboard and wireless mouse to play OSU? Because my parents don't let me buy an external keyboard. Do you guys have any tips or strategies for playing better in this game?

Yeah, it's fine.

I started out playing with external keyboard and a wireless mouse, but then my external keyboard broke so there was a period where I play with laptop keyboard and a wireless mouse. I didn't have any trouble with it and I can see myself getting to where I currently am using that setup.

I see. Maybe I should adjust my keyboard keys based on position. If you can do it, I might be also able to manage it. ;) Add me:)

I use the cheapest wired mouse to play osu, i used to use a membrane keyboard on my desktop, but ever since i moved out i use mostly my grandma's dell inspiron laptop (forget the exact model), but i find that i am able to stream faster in that keyboard so far, so in the end everything is fine, i don't think my setup limits me as much at the moment (but a more ergonomic mouse would be nice, however i don't actually need one yet). I believe i can go as far as 5* FC's with it when i get it down.

Yes it’s completely fine playing with a laptop. I don’t really know if wireless mouse have any latencies tho but it shouldn’t be that bad.

Played with a laptop for a while. Do be aware that playing too long with a scissor switches (Laptop keyboard) can damage them. scissor switches aren't meant to be punched hundreds of times by your fingers in the span of minutes, so change the keys you use to tap often.

and for the wireless mouse, it shoud be fine up until maybe 5 star maps (?). one you start getting into harder maps the latency will be annoying, but for now and probably for a while you should be fine with a wireless mouse.

Thanks for your opinion. But I have just one more question. Do I actually experience latency on 5 star maps? I know that if I am playing more than 5 star maps, then latency will be there. But for 5 stars, will there be any latency at all? Or is there any chance I can reduce the latency of a wireless mouse?

Not sure tbh, i switched to a wired mouse around the time i started playing 5* maps (Though that was completely unrelated to latency, i just bought a gaming laptop and wanted an awesome gaming mouse to go with it)

I use a laptop and wireless mouse and I don't experience any problems so far. I don't really notice any latency but that's probably just me

Play with it if you find it fun.
If it's not fun, why bother?

I got a Surface Laptop 2, and it's been pretty tricky to play osu! on it. There's always a large amount of latency and/or lag that hurts my performance, and I've been trying to figure out ways to fix it (switching between different frame limiters, turning on Compatibility Mode, desperately trying to fix my latency, etc.), but none have worked so far.

On the upside, I figured out how to play easy maps on the touch screen, and it's been pretty fun.

I've been playing 6 months with the laptop's mouse pad, is it going to damage my laptop or smth?

i use a laptop but with a tablet and a mechanical keyboard but before that i used z and mouse 1 to tap like haga1115 playstyle which can help with faster maps and even accuracy

I'm mainly worried about my keys, I'm kind of not confident in my tapping since in the back of my head I'm worried that my laptop keys would stop working. So, how often should I change my keys and should I bind them further then the older ones or any trick like that?

Had the same worry as you as I use a laptop as well but a keyboard or a keypad (if you want to just use it for osu) are the best alternatives
