Improve accuracy ratio between perfect and marvelous

So I've been in some downtime between PP farming and I thought it would be really cool if I could set high accuracy scores on my favorite songs. It gives me a chance to leave my mark as an osu!mania player permanently if I can 1,000,000 a song and be the first to do it. So at first my perfect hit ratio was pretty terrible, around %30 on OD 8 with easy songs. Its improved to cap around at %25 on sight reads and %20 after a few attempts, but I can't seem to get it any higher. Is there anything specific I should be doing to train my accuracy or just play more?

I've just been sorting by a variety of 1-3* and playing them 1-5 times each, going for the SS if I can. I've changed my skin to make perfects more visible in case I hit them, but it doesn't seem to help all that much. It doesn't matter whether its a 1* or barely a 4*, my accuracy ratio seems to be the same.

if you want to improve your MA, first you need to get a feel for hitting marvs. If you cant feel the difference between a marv and a perfect, you're going to have a really hard time doing anything with your accuracy. So that is absolutely step 1. play 0-1 stars if you need to.

once you have a feel for hitting Marvs, you essentially need to relearn how to play every pattern but this time correctly. again, start low, you cant just jump into streams and expect to hold a marv combo. A very good starting point for training acc is low density chordjack charts (from packs like compulsive chordjack pack, nuclear kimchi chordjacks, oxiclean, etc. i believe these packs have been ported to osu! by tachyon). Training chordjack accuracy gives you muscle memory towards keeping a steady beat on each finger which will be really important.

After you get a feel for holding a rhythm with chordjacks, start working your way into very low density / speed streams (1-2 stars). this may take you a little while or you might pick it up instantly. My advice for hitting streams is to consciously time each key press for each note in the stream. and as you start to build consistency on hitting those timings you wont need to focus as much on timing streams.

Since you're on osu, you'll also want to take some time learning LNs. specifically the release timings. nothing kills a good PFC run like getting a Great on an LN release. there should be plenty of low diff LN charts, but by this step you should have a feel for what you're trying to do.

Now with those things accomplished, you've got a mastery of the absolute fundamentals of the game's common patterns. and from there its simply a matter of learning progressively denser, faster, and more rhythmically complex patterns. Training this way isn't exactly the most exciting thing in the world and it requires just as much effort if not more as it does to learn higher speeds and densities. don't go into it if you expect to breeze through it.

Lastly, i'd heavily recommend you look into trying etterna. etterna is a far better client for training your accuracy than osu can ever hope to be.

anyway, good luck ^^ feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Wow.

Time to relearn the game.

This is crazy. I didn't expect there to be so much to MFCs. Should I be going for SS or MFC? Replaying maps to get 995k or just trying to focus on timing?

MFCs are extremely hard. If youre getting PFCs with like double digit perfects youre doing well.

That being said, just do the best you can, if you set your expectations too high too fast it gets frustrating.

Also i wouldnt recommend spam retrying anything. Thats how you mindblock and build bad muscle memory. 1-2 tries and move onto something else

if you solely want to improve your MA then please know that the timing window for a 330 hit remains the same for all ODs while the windows for literally everything else change. try playing score v2; score v2 penalizes accuracy for 300 hits.

Whoah ok that sounds helpful actually. Will be able to force my brain to understand 300 is bad instead of acceptable
