Problem details: so i had it on 144hz in game and 280fps when is song wheel and main menu so i tried setting my custom frame limit to 1000 so i could get the most out of my fps but instead of it being 1000 it was capped to what it originally was before. is this an issue on my end and should i just keep playing with the 144 cap. i get solid 144 in game

If your frame limiter is displaying 144hz in game you probably have your frame limiter set to unlimited. Keep in mind, this is 144hz not FPS. It is just displaying your monitor's refresh rate.

The value directly below 144hz is your frame time. If that is at ~7ms, that means you are being capped to 144hz, which might mean you have vsync enabled or something. If it is lower than that, you are not being capped to anything and as long as you aren't getting performance issues you shouldn't need to worry about anything.

If you want to set a custom frame limit anyway, you will need to close the game and change both of these lines in the "osu!.<username>.cfg" file in your osu! folder, otherwise it's not going to work properly:
CustomFrameLimit = 1000

FrameSync = Custom

ah ok that makes a lot of sense, will changing the config to these setting bring down the latency? if not then ill keep it to how it is

If you are already on unlimited then changing these settings probably won't change much. They won't bring down any sort of latency.

ok. thanks for ur help.

Forgot to mention as well, since you are on 144hz, setting your frame limiter to optimal will cap your FPS at 960, which is close enough to 1000 anyway.
