Protip: Early Rock-It Launcher

Requirements:
Repair skill @ 30 for water repair leak inside Megaton.

Vault 101:
Kill everything, loot everything. If youre overweight just store excess items somewhere...

Megaton first visit:
Sell everything

First quest: Super Duper Mart.
Kill everything, loot everything besides milk bottles, tin cans, etc.

Megaton again:
Sell everything.

Exchange all Scrap Metals you get to Walter inside/infront water processing plant~

If you dont have enough money, loot milk bottles, tin cans etc in Super Duper Mart.

I tried this on a charisma 1 character... Schematics cost 1213 with 1 charisma character (chr affects or not it doesnt matter)

NPCs that you can sell items.
The doctor inside megaton
The two NPCs who is at the Restaurant infront of the clinic, inside and outside not sure.
Moira Brown
Random caravan NPCs outside Megaton.

God I hate Dogmeat so much now, he opened a cage while I wasn't looking (srsly wtf? No fingers) and unleashed a super mutant behemoth on me.

You ppl need to play Fallout 1 and 2 also! :D Seriously, Fallout 1 and 2 are great games to this day and I HIGHLY reccomend them!

That said I'm broke and can't afford Fallout 3 yet... I'll get it someday tho!

I need to get the Rock-It Launcher. It costs somewhere around 1100 caps with my 4 CHR sooooo shouldn't be impossible to loot the mart and find some items. My barter skill's not that high though.

I'm just throwing this out, but the original Fallout is available on Gametap for free (legally).
And for those of you who don't know much about the series it's like Balder's Gate.

Got the Rock-It Launcher after going to hell and back for it. Not a chance to use it on live targets yet but it does a damn fine job of dismembering the legs of fallen enemies.

Also, what the fuck, Arefu (or like-spelled town)? Who calls 4 shacks a town? And who puts a town on a fucking bridge?

The lighting should be fine and I think you can adjust the brightness.
Arefu sucked, first time I went there I was ambushed by like 20 Raiders.

So I have the game now. I'm just about to enter Megaton, and it seems to be a pretty entertaining game gameplay-wise. However, it does have some obvious flaws, such as the barely visible shadows, the occasional horribly high-pitched sounds and constant crashes. Oh well, could be my computer.

Did you buy the game?

You probably downloaded the 2.5GB torrent instead of the 5.5GB one. It's not as stable. My game crashes every time I talk to this one guy in the Saloon.

Nope, it's the large one. There seems to be a 30-or-so percent chance of crashing whenever it tries to load a new area for some reason. It also affects the wasteland. D:

Looks like lowering some graphical settings solved the problem, but that's not all. I've discovered four new bugs. <.<

2: A weapon from a corpse randomly disappeared after loading a save a few times (Not sure if it's a bug)
3: Physics were screwed up for a while, and I was able to go through stuff. Standing on anything but a flat surface also made me fall through the ground for a split second before being brought to the surface again, over and over.
4: The controls went haywire, and I had to restart the game. Seems to happen every time I die.

i never crashed after patching the hotfix
even talking to the guy in formal wear at megaton wont crash anymore

theres no hotfix in that 5gig one.

were not allowed to post torrent stuffs here right?

Believe it or not, I actually bought the game. For some reason it crashes whenever I try loading the game on my laptop. I mean I get to the menu and everything fine, but if I try to start a new game or load another it will crash. At first I thought it had something to do with my codecs, but it turned out that wasn't the issue.
Game hasn't crashed in the middle of playing on my desktop yet though. (First time I really used my desktop since I got my laptop, lol). It has locked once after dying when I was trying to load my game, some corpses aren't accessible sometimes (saving and loading lets me access them though) and sometimes funny textures randomly have a seizure in some buildings in Minefield.
There are some fixes regarding the problem with my laptop, but I won't go into it here. I'll post if I ever fix it.

I'm currently trying to patch my RELOADED version with the Skullptura patch. It's taking hours, but if it works, we can safely assume it also works for legally obtained versions.

Well, fallout obviously hates all of you (hasn't crashed once for me).
I've found the medicine bobblehead and the energy weapons one from General Autumn, I know the locations of several others, but I got a little distaracted playing ff7 and Castlevania sotn.
Finished the game but decided to reload an old save to finish some other things, can you have more than one companion because I keep losing my companions (found dogmeat, he got locked behind a door, got star paladin what's her face, found fawkes, lost paladin, gained fawkes)?

YES.
I finally got rid of the crashes by disabling ffdshow for Fallout 3. One interesting thing I noticed is two programs being disabled by default: Morrowind.exe and Oblivion.exe. <_< Blast.

Many places to explore, a rich visual of a nuclear aftermath, a buch of great humor integrated into catastrophic event, and overall a great game.
Its so worth the download wait.

70fps on ultra :P

Playing it on highest setting (I've got GeForce GTX 260) :P

Anyway, those damn Super Mutants have alot of HP and does heavy damage with their shotguns. And those crab creatures got hardened scales, you must hit them on the face. and they look down. The crosshair sucks, it doesn't show where is the probability of the hits landing, too bad I specialized in lazer weapons, I might start a new game. And I invested quite an amount in repair, but it seems I can't repair much myself.

After the Final Fix my game has not crashed <3 Autosave was saved and I talked to Mister Burke and all that.

Also did Moria Brown's hair become a lot redder after the fix?

I have the power glove. I was fighting hordes of super mutants and I finally just went "ah, screw it." And punched them to death. Contrary to popular belief, it seems circle strafing does, indeed work in this game.

I'll try to add an actual Power Glove into the game as soon as the CS is released. Damn you all for making me do stuff.

Just checking, is this the final Power Glove design, or one of the prototypes? Also, it would be great if someone could find a picture of the back.

Retro Junk has an ad of a guy using it, I of course use the loosest meaning of the word using.

I've finally cleared the game. Got the good ending.

You have a Super Mutant who's completely immune to radiation right next to you, and can you get him to go turn on the purifier? Noooo, they absolutely had to END the game, LoZ style. Also, everyone in this game is so unbelievably stupid.

President: I'MA GONNA REBUILD THE NATION AND THE ENCLAVE SHALL RULE OVER IT!
You: Become an hero.
President: k

Colonel: I'MA GONNA KILL YOU AND THE ENCLAVE SHALL TAKE THE PURIFIER!
You: GTFO.
Colonel: k

By the way, I went though most battles with only 3-5 HP. Quite challenging, but still not too hard since you can save anywhere.

I'm still playing Fallout 3 pretty regularly, but the damn thing keeps crashing on me. I think some of the mods I added made it a bit unstable.

Disable ffdshow audio filter for it, it used to crash every 10 minutes. Now once an hour. lol.

Search in the start menu ffdshow audio configuration, I think the second option from the left side, type "fallout3.exe;" in don't use ffdshow in these applications.
