I was thinking of buying a drum for osu!taiko but was wondering how well it worked and if anyone played with a drum. I'm not very competitive with taiko but I don't want to spend time learning a worse input method if that makes sense. Are taiko drums good for osu!taiko or after a certain star rating do they stop working very well. Thank you!

Some players do use the TaTaCon, but just like you asked further into your question, as you gain in difficulty the drums become more a burden and inconsistent rather than keyboard or something to use fingers on. All depends on how you want to enjoy the game 
keyboard probably wouldnt take too long to learn when you get to the point where the drum becomes an issue, but simply enjoy the game how you want to!
