No one said that?
Okay, whether Odaril is right or not is beside the point and a mtter of opinion. The fact is, this attitude, "I am a powerful modder so i can teach you something, or even force you to fix something not according to ranking criteria but just based on my own judgement. fuck you, mappers." is rude and has no place in this community. If you're going to mod a map, that's fine, but show some respect for the mapper who has donated a half month of their life to make them.MetalMario201 wrote:

If you think modders have that attitude, please just leave now.NatsumeRin wrote:

At least, learn to say "this is my own opinion, that is a rule", not just "if you don't agree you need to explain to me through PM", that's a polite behavior, not a must, no matter who you are. and at a single map, you're not better than the mapper. even you're, don't speak it out.
i reply to every mods in my map, but i don't like modders like this. no one would.Odaril wrote:

In the end, he's just asking for a clarification. I appreciate feedback on maps whether I agree with it or not because I gives me a better understanding of what I can improve on. So what if you think he's rude, that's no justification for anyone to ignore criticism in this context. Also, don't consider every mapper to have the same thin-skinned attitude as yourself because the reality is that people should be taking mods at face value and moving on.NatsumeRin wrote:

Actually, I do give feedback to modders.NatsumeRin wrote:

map is always open for opinions, not commands. hope i get the point clear.
randomly check your map thread and say it again man.Jarby wrote:

And you can disagree respectfully. This is all I've ever asked. When you flame a modder, you're the one who looks bad.MetalMario201 wrote:

I discuss the map with the other person on IRC or Vent if it's not a strictly objective thing and I want to learn more about their perspective. A forum interface like this is a pretty bothersome tool for such a thing, so I don't use it. No real reason to. Don't be naive and think that I just say things that put me in a positive light.NatsumeRin wrote:

and back to the point if it's needed. just saying.

Do you think it looks weird. i'll sure be respectful to a modder unless he's doing impolite behaviors. to make sure you can check my map threads, i'm pretty confident with my feedback to modders, and the attitude.MetalMario201 wrote:

thanks and this could be the end.MetalMario201 wrote:
Personal attacks never get anyone anywhere.
I colourize and bold my mods, which is a bit OCD of me. To most people, if something pops out as wrong, they'll list it. Whether it violates a guideline isn't important. I don't see why ranking guidelines should be separated from personal standards. They're all opportunities to make your map better.NatsumeRin wrote:
so could you understand a bit why people are angry about rude behaviors of some modders, even MATs? because they combine "ranking rules" and their own preference together, and THIS leads to a wrong way.
the difference is one is you MUST fix if you want to get your map ranked, another is about style, preference or whatever, it could be discussed, and could keep if the mapper wish to do so. i think this is enough.MetalMario201 wrote:

btw I'd like to offer my two cents for this time:Odaril wrote:
Holy... I never thought my asking for an explanation could sound rude at all.
I was only asking for someone to explain to me why the spacing I pointed can be considered fine, because I don't understand...
Your post doesn't imply that you're asking for an explanation on then spacing - it looks more like you're imposing your opinion on others (and disrespectful), To avoid that from happening again, better add sentences like "the following is only my own opinion" or "please explain how this happened" etc,, rather than listing a few objects and identify them as bad spacing.
I didn't mean any harm at all...
Because i'm not the mapper he want to asked so i cant explain everywhere the spacing chagned , also some spacing chagned is no need to explain , just listening the music . "make sense" and "follow the music" , but not "make map for standards". something is just a feel , how to explain it? So i can only leave "hahaha" because what he said is just like a joke.ignorethis wrote:
Second, some Chinese people really should reconsider their action to unexpected modding post and it's poster. Quoting a post and commenting "I can only say hahahaha" but not pointing out the reason isn't a proper way to reply. Or I can say this is just mocking, but sadly this meant nothing besides a disrespect to the modder. No matter how experienced a mapper you are, you still need to respect other members in the community. We would keep every case in control if we do.
This sums up my opinion on this bullshit "war" that has been happening there lol.ignorethis wrote:

First, on the spacing of this map, I think it's perfectly readable (though I can't agree on some of them), and help to make the map play better and challenging. This spacing can be seen as some kind of creativity or personal mapping style, so there's no need to complain much.

You're awesome for saying this. It's rare to see something that applies for the two "sides" of mappers.ignorethis wrote:

Does leaving a comment like "I totally disagree; please listen to the music carefully and play for a few more times before you mod it" hurt that much? I know that you though Odaril's post was like bullshit, but commenting like "hahaha" will result in nothing but flame war, then thread locked - It's the usual pattern for a disputable map nowadays.eveless wrote:

I do agree that Odaril's post looked aggresive, but posting another aggresive reply is just making the case worse.Colin Hou wrote:
