Ok, so I made my first beatmap ever, but I don't think it's quite finished yet. I don't want to put it up just yet so all I really have online is a video if me playing through it. Where does it go? and more importantly, what exactly do I need to do with it when I do consider it done?

Why don't you upload it to the beatmap help board?

But that's just the problem, I don't know what's expected me, especially in this seemingly unique situation.

I don't think there are really any specific criteria for uploading to Beatmap Help, so don't worry about that. After you finish it you can automatically move your thread to Completed Beatmaps by changing the radio button on the upload screen to Complete Submission.
