Problem details:
I have been streaming osu! since around 2017 and haven't really had too many issues with performance in game until very recently. About a couple weeks ago, I started to get momentary freeze-ups while streaming in game. I'm not really sure what is causing them but they only occur while I'm streaming. I normally have a number of background applications open as well as ones that are used during the stream. I've tested playing the game without obs on and have no issues while running the normal background programs like Discord or Chrome. I've also ran obs alone without the normal streaming apps I use along side it and have narrowed it down to the game freeze-ups happening with obs running by itself. I'm really unsure why this issue has been happening and any help is appreciated.

Specifications of my computer:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600
GPU: Radeon RX 470

osu! version: Cutting Edge 20200325

Might have to do with the type of encoding you are doing? Can you check which encoder you are using?

Encoder: x264

[Edit: There is also one other option called H264/AVC Encoder (AMD Advanced Media Framework) which I have never used before.]

Did you just recently update OBS or something when you started having issues? Or did you perhaps install a driver update for your graphics card or install a Windows update?

Nothing has changed osu!-side recently, so I'm pretty confident something else on your computer must have changed that would cause this behavior.

I didn't update any drivers or obs before the issues happened. Once the issues started to happen, I was checking drivers to see if anything was not up to date. Obs had an update as well as my graphics drivers, so I updated both but the problem was still happening before updating as well as after.

When was the last time you installed a Windows update? I would not be the slightest bit surprised if that were to cause issues like this.

Hit Ctrl+F11 to display a frame time graph in game and try to get a picture of video of the graph after you get some lag spikes. That could potentially help in trying to figure out what's could be doing this.

Here's a clip with the Ctrl+F11 graph active, I done this in an earlier stream: https://clips.twitch.tv/MiniatureCloudyOrangePupper

Most of the issues I'm having is like the first clip in the first post of this thread where it is single freeze ups that happen kind of randomly but frequent enough that I notice one at least once each 30 seconds. This clip is like the first case where there are definitely freeze ups, where the game is still playable on easier maps, but the freeze ups definitely ruin playability on more complicated maps.

Also, is the graph supposed to move like, not in a smooth movement. Almost looks like the graph is moving with the rhythm of the song.

[Edit: For the windows question, there was an update to windows around four days ago, which the problem was already an issue before that update.]

No, the graph should not do that. It kind of looks like it's happening a lot when you move your mouse around, so perhaps it's your mouse drivers or something. What mouse do you have? Can you try lowering its report rate temporarily?

Mouse is a Logitech g305, original polling rate is 1000.

1000 polling rate: https://clips.twitch.tv/EntertainingAbstruseTurtleWutFace
500 polling rate: https://clips.twitch.tv/InspiringClumsySardineDuDudu
250 polling rate: https://clips.twitch.tv/CharmingOilyHorseDendiFace
125 polling rate: https://clips.twitch.tv/ArtsyStormyCockroachOptimizePrime

After playing around with it, 500 and below made it so I didn't experience any of the freeze ups during the map which is very interesting since I wasn't experiencing any issues while playing the game without obs running, but now with obs running and the lower polling rate, the issue seems to not be present. I'll keep testing this out for a bit since the problem would normally get worse the longer I streamed.

[Edit: Also thank you for your help! I think on each help thread I posted, I've always seen a response from you and they are always helpful!]

I'm not entirely sure why you weren't having issues before yet you are now. Maybe try reinstalling your mouse drivers entirely?

If that doesn't work I'd say just leave it at 500 or below for now while you look to try and find other solutions (if you actually care to), you probably won't notice a difference between 1000 and 500 anyway.
