Tad, I just reread the post description and realized the huge inconvenience you are instating upon the fellow denizens by not including a link to the First Phase thread.

Now that all presidential candidates are present, we can proceed to the questions from denizens.

The first question is from an anonymous denizen to all candidates.

Is Maclanky used in the creation of slime girls?

The second question also came from an anonymous denizen to candidate Zain Sugieres specifically.

Before the 2020 Presidential Elections, you haven’t posted in OT for over 8 months, neither replies nor new topics. How can we trust that you will actively help and improve OT, if you are the most inactive candidate?

All candidates will have one day to post their answers.
Candidates can also comment on other candidates' answers and start debates.

Any denizen who wishes to ask the candidates questions can still do so by messaging me directly either via the forum's mail box, chat box or through Discord messages.

I have not delved into the area of the creation of slime girls, so I have no knowledge of what should be used to create them.

My scientific expertise lies in mechanical engineering. I have only completed biology/chemistry classes up to the grade 12 level. The creation of slime girls is too complex for me to understand.
abraker
I dont believe I am qualified to answer questions in slimegirlology. A have degrees in shitposting, anomalies, and strange energy, not in slimegirls.
samX500
Much like the above two candidate, I am not knowledgeable about the creation process for slime girls.
keremaru
Unlike the past three candidates before me, I indeed understand the process of creating slime girls. Though it may seem odd to point out, Maclunkey (an alternate name for Maclanky) is a pinnacle character in the Star Wars franchise. Though his purpose is unknown, it is the point of his ambiguous function that creates such a great character dynamic for such a stale character. However, even in his specialty, I do not believe that Maclunkey is required to be used in the creation of slime girls. Note that I mentioned requirements. Yes, slime girls are indeed tangible beings that can only consciously exist by way of genetic coding, but this aforementioned genetic coding can come from any living creature, theoretically. That means that you, me, the whole galaxy, can create a slime girl once the technology is developed enough to allow the creation of slime girls. So by technicality, yes; Maclunkey, or Maclanky, is used in the creation of slime girls, though not required.
Thank you.

^ If you think our current lazy bones president did anything this year wait till you see how much of nothing this guy will do.

As if I will allow that. If you do become president, Zain, be ready to be highlighted as much as I highlighted President Achromalia to get shit done. I can only hope you wouldn't resign shortly after becoming president. This technically goes for any candidate here.

Fellow denizens, you need someone who cares about OT and about you. Someone who will listen to what you have to say. Someone you believe will do their best to make OT more enjoyable.

Since all candidates have answered, let's move on to the next questions.

These questions didn't come from any denizens but were picked by me, as to provide denizens with a more clear visual of what each candidates' characteristics, attitude, beliefs and proficiency.

First question:
Many of the hardest decisions in the OT Government won’t be consensus decisions. What will inform your decision making?

Second question:
What are the keys to translating your vision for OT's future into action?

1)

I value morals and ethics far more than other material goods. I will make sure each decision made will be the one that gives the Denziens the greatest amount of satisfaction, I will listen to what the people want and do my best to fulfill their wishes. I won’t make any decisions based on personal greed, for I believe that the best OT will be the one with the happiest people, not the richest government.

2)

I don’t want this place to turn into a massive gatekeeped or inactive community; I want it to be a place that you want to check every day. A place where you want to talk with other people and get engaged. A place that is lively, diverse, and inclusive.

The biggest factor that will decide this hypothetical future is the community. No candidate should ever promise they will be able to change OT’s current state; because it’s impossible for them alone to do so.

What I can promise, however, is that I will open as many doors as I can to people wanting to post, and I will do as much as I can to support the community and what the community decides to post. I will give all power to the people, whether this means role playing threads, vtuber threads, meme threads, whatever it is, I will support it.
abraker
1) I am able to make decisions based on what I believe is best for OT. One of the hardest decisions I had to make as an OT Representative was whether to keep pursuing the OTEconomy system I was so eager to implement over a year ago. When I had it working I realized it was not any fun to be part of it. As much as I wanted it to be a thing, I had to put what it means to be part of OT first and shut the project down. I still want some kind of point system for OT, but I don't have any ideas on how to make it work and be fun yet.

2) The deep and intimate desire to have a good laugh and enjoy the stuff that goes on as a community. Krita crashed 8 damn times when I made this meme. I was gonna call it quits the first time but the desire to share a joke won over the frustrations I faced. That and I finally caved in and started saving the damn thing. Krita fix your damn transform tool on text.
samX500
1) I am able to take decisions, not as an official figure, but rather as a denizen. I am new to OT's political system and some might argue that my lack of experience would be detrimental to OT, but what it really means is that I still see myself as a denizen rather than as some sort of authoritive figure taking decisions. As I will make my decisions as a denizen, I will only take decisions that are in favor of our denizen.

2) Making OT a family. Forming an extended family will make this place a much better environement for all. Like a family, we shall all support one another. We will create games and jokes to keep ourselves entertained, we will kindly poke fun at one another for laugh and, when the situation will be darker, we will help our fellow out. I think that if I am able to make a family out of OT, our community will be bound stronger than anything. And as a family, we will accept other denizen with open arms, and will also attract them, as they will see our unity and want to be a part of it.

Time's up.
Though not all candidates have answered their questions yet.
Candidate Zain Sugieres and candidate Keremaru have both yet to answer the questions, however we'll move on to the next set of questions.
Note that failure to answer questions in time for 3 times will result in disqualification.

Next questions:
What is your negotiating style/approach/philosophy?

Please describe some of your personal tools for dealing with adversity?

Time's up.
Looks like no candidates answered this time.

Warning for candidates Zain Sugieres and Keremal. Failure to answer questions one more time and you will be disqualified and won't be allowed to continue with your campaign.

The last question came from an OT denizen whom wished to be anonymous.

How active do you believe an OT President needs to be?

oop.

I do not believe that OT presidents should be very active within the community; however, this isn't to say that they should be completely opaque in serving their role as political leaders for the OT forums. I mostly, and would say indefinitely, understand this burden that accompanies presidency; I myself have been moderator/admin for several Discord servers that I am not inclined to list. Albeit some, if not most, are now extinct, I have still served the role of a subordinate leader for several times, in multiple active servers.

Thank you.
Ashton
Checking the forums and government at least once a day is good activity for a president. As long as they are consistent.
samX500
A president obviously needs to be fairly active, after all, if the denizen are never able to see the face of the one in power, they may start doubting that the governement is doing anything at all. However, the goal of a president is not necceseraly to be active all of the time, rather, it is to be there when you are needed and to keep a connection with the denizen.
abraker
The OT president should be active enough for denizens to feel like there is an OT president. Take President Achromalia for example. I don't think any denizen thinks that he is exerting much influence over OT. Yet it's also unreasonable to expect the OT president to get something done as soon as there is something that needs to be done. Even I have select days I don't check OT. I think it's reasonable to expect activity on a weekly basis as an absolute worst case.

Time's up.

Candidate Zain Sugieres have failed to answer questions for 3 times. Therefore, following the election rule, candidate Zain Sugieres will be disqualified and won't be able to finish his campaign.

Zain Sugieres is now no longer a candidate for the OT Presidential Election 2020.

We'll finish with the last question from president of OT himself.

Achromalia wrote:

prior to the founding of OT!Government, there had existed a long crisis we've known as the OT!Depression Era. at the time, a fair amount of change had to occur to set something up for the forum to be relatively active and fun again. what will you do as president to prevent a similar catastrophe from occurring? cite some specific examples from the errors of the Depression Era and how you would counter them.

additionally, now that the first term of presidency is coming to a close, what problems have remained from the Depression Era? as president, what would you do better for this second term regarding these issues? optional: cite specific areas or campaign promises of my administration that had failed, and what you believe you can do better for our forum.

If we don't receive any more questions then this will be the last question and the 2nd phase of the election will come to a close after all remaining candidates have given their answers.

Due to this being a rather long and complex question, candidates will have extra time to answer the president's question.
Candidates will have 2 days to post their answers.
Ashton
I will decline answering this question.
abraker
I will partially answer this. But first, a fun fact. The period's official name is "OTpression", not "OT!Depression". The name is about how you would hear "Owh, depression" pronounced, with a little pun spice added to it.

Now to answer. Making sure OTPression doesn't happen again is too big of an undertaking even for the OT President. To make sure that doesn't happen you need to organize events, and have a line up of several of them to stimulate OT. OT Court II and first presidential elections, followed by representative elections and then ceremony effectively took OT out of that era. That was a collaboration of a shit ton of people - one of largest set of organized events OT seen to date. I am still damn impressed at how well OT Court II went. If the OT Government is ineffective, then expect the situation to repeat. Tad and me are currently the only active OT Representatives, and that is rather dangerous if the OT Government is expected to be effective. OT representative elections will follow soon, so hopefully this will be fixed.

What problem still remains from the OTpression era? 99% ALCOHOL IS STILL FUCKING BANNED!
keremaru
As a recipient who has been inactive during the OTpression era, I have no room to speak of this matter. I understand that many denizens are affected by the onslaught of issues that have arisen from this horrific event, however I aforementionedly have no space to intellectually digest this period that of which OT has suffered through. I can only hope that victims of the event are well on their way to full recovery and restoration, as my hopes and wishes travel to them faster than brain waves processing the thought of light speed. As I do not recall the OTpression era, as aforementioned, I cannot answer the question of which problems have survived from those days. However, with the combined forces of our government, no-- our OT!Government, I can ensure that no further casualties or traumatic events and/or eras will come to OT during my period of service to you all.
samX500
I wasn't around when the OTpression era plagued OT and so I am not able to properly answer this question. However, I know how to avoid another OTPression. It is too much to ask of just the government to stimulate OT. What our goverment needs to do is to, not only create event of their own to make OT livelier, but also encourage other denizen to do the same. If denizens starts to host small events, even if they are very tiny, it will already make OT a bit more active and many denizens hosting small event are as good if not better than a few governmetn officials hosting large event. Of course, it doesn't mean that our government shouldn't focus on hosting large event, huge event are always something to look forward to. However, I don't believe that just one large event from time to time isn't enough to liven up OT.

NOTICE

The time limit for the last question was 2 days. However, it would seem that all candidates have already given their answers and we won't be needing the extra time. And because we don't have any more questions from denizens, I'd like to conclude the 2nd phase of the OT Presidential Election 2020.
It's a shame that we had to disqualify a candidate, however I would like to congratulate the remaining candidates for having come this far.

The second phase of the OT Presidential Election 2020 is now officially concluded.
The third phase of the election will soon start and will be open for denizens to vote freely.

Please note that the voting rule have changed a bit and requires an extra step if you wish to vote. Denizens whom have voted must now confirm their vote on the 'OT Presidential Election 2020 - Third Phase' thread for their vote to be accepted.
For more information, please read the election rules in the first phase thread or you can read it on the third phase thread once it has been created.

Good luck to all candidates and may OT find a fair president.

Glory to OT!
