Instead of mapping in editor, play the song live and click freestyle where notes should be placed.

Note snap would be judged on how the player plays the beat, or it could be set to a mode such as only allowing 'even' beats - 1/2 and 1/4 or 'odd' beats - 1/3 and 1/6

osu! mode - note is placed where cursor was positioned upon click
taiko mode - note is placed at point where key(s) is/are clicked

Would require extra keys to be binded in order to specify finish notes, whistle/clap etc. Perhaps more than one key can be pressed with a specific tolerance in order to get the note mapped. E.g. taiko mode, v + f within milliseconds of each other = finish whistle.

I know this sounds complicated but I would love to see this implemented, I'm sure there are many pro players who are capable of mapping a song out via freestyle patterns.

Still not sure how to account for sliders/spinners but maybe those would not be necessary to begin with.

Would only work for Taiko. If I see an osu! map someone's made in one minute thirty I shall promptly murder the mapper.
