osu!chat, lobby and room lag

Ok, so a couple days before bancho was moved, I had been getting some HUGE lag during multiplayer, but not during a match, just in the lobby/rooms (I didn't test with a match) I asked why it was so lagey, and someone told me bancho was acting up, so it had to be moved. Today I opened osu for the first time since then, and was given the update which moved the server. Now, not only is it still doing what it was doing, but it got worse.

- The list of all the rooms take an impossibly long time to load.
- Once they have loaded, clicking on one takes even LONGER to open

That was what did happen and what still does. Here is what happens in addition to that now:

- When the room opens "Ready" takes a while to show any effect on my name once it is clicked
- When I opened the room, the players and open slots did not match those of the room in the list (eg. List saying 3 of 8 players, Room actually having 6 of 7)
- The song shown in the room is always a song I don't have, even though when I clicked the room, I had the song. (I understand they could have changed the song while the room loaded, but going back to the Lobby shows it still being the original song, and going back to the room has the song I don't have again. Also people are still talking about the song that was supposed to appear in the chat.)
- Even though I don't have the song that shows up in the room, a random song always plays in the background.

Sorry peppy if this is a load of work, but I don't have a clue as to what happened, or how a bug like this emerged from just moving the server, which I asume is just creating another server and telling the program to look there instead, but I'm probably wrong. Also, this might be happening to lots of people and I don't realize it, but I didnt see another topic like this so...

Sounds like your internet is acting up. What connection are you on, and what ping do you get to osu.ppy.sh?

Uhh... Wha? I'm on a wireless connection if that's what you mean... but how would I go about finding the ping number or address or whatever it is?

Edit: I tried tried multiplayer again. Now the list of available games loads almost instantly but when I click on one the game crashes. I got the error report screen and I was going to copy and paste the description here but I forgot to copy. Unfortunatly I also forgot to send the report :| . BUT I did get this:

Not sure if that helps at all

google ping windows

p.s. plug in a network cable - wireless was never meant for gaming.

I found that out the hard way in TF2. Unfortunately, Wireless is all I have, but it's surprisingly pretty stable on osu! - that is, when the connection itself isn't being gay (about 70% of the time).

Sorry, I still don't understand what you mean with the whole "ping" thing. And I did have a wired connection but it started acting up, and the guy who inspected it said it was split too many times. So either re-wire the house or use a wireless connection. Guess which one we chose.

But it shouldn't make a difference, considering it worked fine on a wireless connection for a while.

aaaaaaaaaargh learn to google please.

but yeah - this isn't a bug so i'd like to close this report personally. the problem is *definitely* the wireless connection - you'll need to either do some research and fix your network settings or swap to a cabled network.

The same thing is going on with me. Osu! is the ONLY thing that lags for me. I have to wait 10 or 20 seconds for the Osu! rooms to load up, then it takes 10 to 20 seconds to enter a room after I click it, then I have to wait 10 or 20 seconds to be ready after I click ready, and so on. This isn't a connection problem and I've got nothing else other than AIM open, so I don't know what the problem is.

Operating system (including SP revision), country, internet speed, ping time to osu.ppy.sh, firewall and security disabled and I might help.

for me i have windows xp home edition, U.S.A, cable/dsl, nod32 e-set smart secuirity (firewall is off for both windows and nod), not sure what the ping time is but pages load fast

im using a super crappy broadband connection but osu rarely lags for me, it only lags whenever it loads (chat panel, mainmenu to songselect, etc)

im not sure if lag still affects how many beatmaps you had (like those builds in january)

If I still have any input in my thread, then;

I'm on Windows XP Home Edition (Possibly Media Center Edition) SP3, Canada, Download Speed - 5.7 Mbps, Upload Speed - 504 Kbps, Ping time - 3004 Ms , Firewall On, but it doesn't work with it Off either, and I don't have security.

Oh, and sorry bout the google thing, I can be kinda thick sometimes...

3004ms ping? That's your problem. Are you uploading a lot of data while playing osu!?

Well, I'm not sure if I did the ping thing right, and no, the only data that should be uploaded should be anything Osu! Sends
