In all fairness, KevEz and the players in the upper quarter of the lower bracket have all done an exceptional job of scheduling the matches they had. btw in case anyone doesn't remember from that stream schedule I posted a few weeks ago. This Round is LB only.
Match DV of the loser bracket needs to be finished before next round. Next round is the grand final round.
(Grandfinal round starts August 1st)
Also I will be gone this weekend. Yoda is in charge while I'm gone.

I don't think there should have been a loser's bracket in the first place, honestly. Once a few people dropped out of it there was a serious lack of interest to try and progress in it. Not to mention that I personally was discouraged from playing in it after hearing how long the matches were taking to play out. I could make plenty of excuses for not playing but with the sheer amount of people dropping out it really makes me insist that there shouldn't have been a loser's bracket in the first place.Azer wrote:

There shouldn't be any lack of interest in competing in the lower bracket. Only 1 player doesn't make it to the lower bracket, and the 2nd grand finalist is the winner of the lower bracket. That gives everyone another chance to come back and win the whole thing. Double elimination is simply far superior than single elimination. No one wants to be eliminated because of 1 bad game. If people hadn't dropped out and had actually cared enough to schedule their matches properly, we could've had a really nice set of lower bracket matches. Many competitions/sports/Esports that follow this double elimination standard have players/teams that win the whole competition from the lower bracket (some even from losing their first match).
That all said, double elimination (for no good reason) isn't working due to lack of interest as many have pointed out, which is truly unfortunate.
I wouldn't be surprised if future NATs forgo the lower bracket due to poor player mentality.

I agree with Yoda, double elimination is a much better way to run the tourney, everyone gets that one bad game and can still compete, more matches to follow, I think it's way better.
However after seeing just how few people wanted to continue or even didn't play their first match, it was pretty clear that it just wasn't going to work and probably should've been scrapped earlier, but now it's probably too late and we've just got to power through with the remaining few players. It'll really be a shame if next year goes back to single elimination because of this.

The double elimination allowed some players to have a second chance, and allowed them to show their actual skills.
KevEz lost his first round but he is still in the game in the losers bracket. Death was sick and did not play his best but he ended up ahead of me. It would have been a waste for some amazing players to go just because they didnt have a good round.
I think double illumination was a great idea, however some players just did not have the interest to keep playing just because they lost once. I honestly think some who dropped out had a good chance of winning. Hopefully next time people will have the motivation to keep playing after losing and make this tournament a lot more exciting (not that it isnt right now)

No need to compare excuses guys, the end result is what matters. If it was a fluke, so be it, that kind of thing should make itself clear through future results instead of speculation. Some days players will have hours to warm up but just aren't feeling it that day, and sometimes they'll be feeling it after two or three maps. There's all kinds of variables going into it that are impossible to quantify, which is why we let the results speak for themselves in the first place. Congratulations to KevEz for pulling the upset; there's no need to try to take anything away from him for it, nor is there a need to play it up for meaning more than it does.
