Some people like me, disconnect constantly or randomly because of par-level internet and the chat log ends up lost, meaning you constantly have to ask others what they said last so you know what to say when you continue the conversation. Is it possible just to save and load the chat logs at start-up/connection? This means that if you disconnect, the chat log will still be displayed as if you never disconnected or left in the first place. What I mean is: The Chat log is autosaved in every post, but when you clear it manually the file is deleted for that tab of chat. After the usual number of posts before the end from approx. 2 hours ago, maybe more, the user is prompted to clear the chat, not have the oldest posts for that window cut off from the log.

Second of all, make this optional in the case that people don't want this, I don't know why, there's just going to be some whiny bitch who doesn't want it. I use XChat for networks other than osu!Bancho and they've always loaded the log(s) from before.

This is nothing short or more of an idea than it is, and I don't see how it would be a problem.

I think there's a duplicate of this somewhere, but nevertheless this would be immensely helpful. Chat getting cleared every time there's an internet/Bancho disconnection is just counter-intuitive.

I agree, Everyone and #lobby and #osu knows my internetz at my mom's house is BELOW Sub-Par, And I hate having this happen.

But I also have other questions, Like:

Would this work for PM's and For tabs that you close.

Also would it give me a warning to save the Chat-Log for when I close a tab?

Oh this would be sooooo helpful :3

My IRC client does this and I always find it helpful. No reason not to support it here too!

We really need this.

Although... maybe use a different method than stated. I don't like keeping logs :P

Loading the previous log doesn't seem like the best choice... just keeping the chat from disappearing if a disconnection happens would be fine (without any logs jibberjabber). I'd see why people would not want to keep logs, but I can't see why someone would request a toggle for the latter method.

That's probably what he meant...

This would be so helpfull for people like me who have a realy unstable connection/ crappy PC's.
If Osu didnt close normally (e.g. disconnect, crash,...), at least the PM tabs should be reloaded.

This could be done like this:
-Client running, chatting with someone. Chat logged in /chat/last/*playername*
-Client closed normally: All Chats in the /chat/last directory gets deleted.
-Client crashed or disconnected: Client detects, that there were chats before the crash, and reload them (detects the /chat/last/*playername* directory, which is not deleted, because the client haven't removed it).

I hope someone can read what I'm writing here, my english is crap this night qwq

Actually, I wouldn't mind if osu also loaded messages from the chat logs upon start up, like at least the last 10 messages or something.

Like sometimes, someone will message me like "hi!" or something and I know that I know them somehow but I forget how I know them. Or sometimes I want to see the last thing we talked about. Having the context of the last few messages exchanged would help ring a bell for me.

Yes please

You can already save such logs as .txt files via options
They'll be visible in the chat folder
