IMO KoF: Maximum Impact had one of the best GSTs in the entire franchise - top tracks such as

Kiss Geese One More Time

and that's just talking about the Maximum Impact soundtrack.

I think I just found my least favourite vocals of all-time. They should either learn to sing (or if they already can, stop using autotune/vocoder), or at least use that autotune/vocoder properly. The style itself isn't my type either. I see real instruments being played, but all I hear is heavily electronic pop-punk.

3.9/10, because it's still better (as an instrumental) than most of the stuff being posted here.

I posted a different version of the same song a few pages earlier. This one is less intense.

Solid 7/10. The music had nice atmosphere at the start, I enjoyed it, the melody was relaxing and decently well thought out. The genre changes were interesting without going overboard and gave the song quite a bit of flavor, though I felt they didn't have that much direction and were just sort of thrown in there to be interesting without any real substance. Some of the editing could have been done better.

5/10. I feel like that song could have been better in almost every way. The chord progression was terribly basic, the beat was incredibly simple and never really expanded much. I guess the layering was okay but... that chord progression just turned me off the song, completely.

There was nothing at all that stood out to me, no notes that really took it away; no clearly defined emotion which the song gave off that was particularly interesting. The style was unique, for sure; but I feel like there are much better songs that do fall under that sort of style which do what that song did but much much better. It sounded like the artists was still in the process of improving a lot; It felt like experimental music more than something with a well-thought out beginning and end. It would probably be okay music to put into a video game, or something.

7/10. It was okay, I liked it, but I wasn't a huge fan of the melody. The melody itself is a variation of one that you hear a lot and this guy didn't take it anywhere special. The chord progression was decent, Nothing crazy great or anything but it was solid and fairly well done.

I felt like there could have been lot more atmospheric build up at the start, especially considering how the rest of the song went. That probably would have made it quite better in my eyes, and I probably would make a couple of changes to the melody - I didn't feel like there wasn't enough deviation from the basic progression.

Just gotta say I disagree, and I like music theory, so I like talking about this stuff.... Gonna go on a tangent here.

Singing doesn't make a song better in anyway, it just adds layers to the music. Some songs are designed to have a singer, some aren't. I feel like that is one of those songs that if you changed in anyway would entirely degrade from the original because it was just designed so damn well. Putting a singer on it would probably make it wayyyyy shittier because it differentiates from the original style so much. The song, in my opinion, is very near perfect in the way it was created and is one of the very few songs that I can listen to and be just completely blown away with how beautifully it was done. The chord progression is fucking amazing, I love the melody, it deviates, it changes, it's never the same, it sounds good and it's one of those songs where every single note just feels perfect; like that song was sitting there from the moment the universe was created and was just waiting for somebody to pick it up.

Changing it would absolutely change the piece of art which is that song.

In terms of theory, I didn't like it that much. The piano playing made me want to cry because all throughout that song there is some really cool shit that they could have been doing on the piano, but whatever, that's fine. The atmosphere was pretty great, chord progression was okay, build up was pretty damn good.
It definitely had 1980's feel and charm to it, though I have to say I am not at all a fan of rock during this time period. The sort of techno-ish themes that were added to it sound pretty shitty in my opinion with the exception of a few artists (Like Nine Inch Nails, though that's more 1990's).

In terms of performance music, it was very good. The atmosphere was amazing, the singing was the fucking bomb (I have not heard any of that band I think but that guy is a very good singer) and the build up added to the whole scene in a really beautiful way. I rate it so highly mostly because I can't expect anything full of amazing theory and shit like that on a stage, it's a totally different enviornment, and this music definitely thrives in that enviornment. If I was rating it just off this, it would probably be a 10/10, though the things in the first part of my post are why I take 2 off. Pretty solid.
