Looking for any decent comedy/romance/ecchi titles. Mix and match, anything goes. Something light to relax on a boring evening. ;)

If it helps, I liked things like Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate, Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, Seto no Hanayome, Shuffle... just to give you an overall example.

I love NHK, and I was actually going to ask for something similar to it. Does anyone have any recommendations? Anything with the same brand of dark humour, psychological elements and emotional depth. Doesn't have to be a slice-of-life or comedy necessarily, I guess.
Stein's gate? (I shouldn't really recommend a show I've only watched 4-5 episodes of.) The atmosphere is kind of dark, has humour, involves psychological elements. Maaayybbeee... some emotional depth ^^^.

I'm not a guy who prefers dark plots or atmospheres.
I actually just finished Steins;Gate, and it was in a word, AMAZING. Im not entirely sure what kind of road the plot in NHK takes, but Steins;Gate is fantastic either way. HOWEVER, the first episodes of Steins Gate are a bit misleading as to how dark the plot actually is. around halfway through it gets super depressing, still a fantastic anime I would recommend to anyone though.

Code Geass. Nuff said, Im watching Evangelion 7 at the moment, but I think it might step over your 50/50 boundary, not sure. Code Geass would be amazing if you havnt seen it yet, however it is a bit more mainstream so if you have i wouldnt be surprised

First thing that popped into my head was Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, as Chamber is a kinda-sentient mech, and the setting is very much a Waterworld-esque future.

Hi. So yeah I want to watch a slice of life anime with a LOT of feels.
I've pretty much watched every popular anime with this kind of genre.
I've watched:
Angel Beats
Anohana
Nagi no Asukara
Clannad
Little Busters
And quite a few more of them really.

I was wondering if anybody knew more anime like this. I'd really appreciate it.
I'm just a sucker for a good sob story.

Anyway, Aria is a great one but feels is in the third season (Aria the Origination). I can't really think of any slice of life anime with feels except that and Wolf Children which I bet you already watched.

Looking for a good sports anime for after I catch up with Diamond no Ace, any suggestions? Preferably about Baseball (though I've already seen Major and Cross Game, so don't suggest those), though it doesn't necessarily be about that. (Oh, and please, don't suggest something along the lines of KuroBas or Free. I definitely won't touch those.)

For baseball, I highly recommend Touch. It's the definitive baseball anime, with real drama that makes you care about the players and their relationships with each other, in addition to the game.

For non-baseball, I also highly recommend Chihayafuru, for similar reasons. It's a show about interpersonal relationships as much as it is about finding one's passion in life through karuta, a traditional card game.

I also do recommend Free! anyway, since it's as much about the interpersonal relationship drama as it is about the abs

I also second Mogsworth's recommendation of Chihayafuru. Hikaru no Go as well, if you like Chihayafuru.

Thanks for the recommendations! Touch does look good, given that it's apparently by the same mangaka as Cross Game, so I know what I'm in for with this one. I'll also give Chihayafuru and One Outs a try, not sure about Hikaru no Go yet.

Hello!

I have a lot of travelling coming up and if you could recommend me some anime to watch I would be overjoyed. I'm looking for mainly comedy but all genres are basically okay to suggest. Since I'll be watching in public I think it would be for the best to completely avoid ecchi as much as possible.

Some anime that I've seen: Hayate No Gotoku, Honey and Clover, YuruYuri, Lucky Star, Little Busters, Clannad and Madoka Magica.

Thanks in advance. :)

In terms of comedies I wouldn't be ashamed of watching in public (so they appeal more to a general audience): Azumanga Daioh, Nichijou, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun. Comedies with less of an otaku aim that are still absolutely funny and contain very little to no ecchi. Enjoy.

Lovely Complex (shojo and comedy): Focuses on the romance between a really short boy and a really tall girl.
The Wallflower (shojo and comedy): Picture a girl whose is supposedly unattractive, has an obsession with zombies and skulls and death, and is antisocial. Plop her in a house with 4 incredibly attractive guys. The author has a rather unique style that may take some time to get used to, but it is hilarious.
School Rumble (comedy and school life): It's been a couple years since I've seen this, but I'm pretty sure there is not too much ecchi. Title says it all.

Yeah, so those are the only three series that I've watched that have comedy minus the ecchi (because a lot of comedy anime seem to rely on perverted scenes, don't they? ;) )

I'm going to throw this out there because no matter what genres you like, this is a must watch.
Nodame Cantabile, the drama. Yes, there's a manga and an anime, but the drama takes the cake!!
It has comedy, romance, and a tiny bit of slice of life (counting the messy room and kotatsu parts).

Basically, the story follows a musically talented, handsome University student who dreams of being a conductor, but is stuck playing piano. He meets a piano player, also talented, but quite childish at times, who dreams of being a kindergarten teacher. The story goes on, their dreams warp (in the good way), and they meet others in the music field.
NOT as boring as it may seem (I got that impression before I watched because of the whole Schubert Mozart Beethoven business)

I suppose you could watch the anime, but put it this way: anime vs. drama = poorly crafted CGI instruments vs. real life orchestras.
And if you have seen it already, awesome! If not, the drama awaits you..
[_TetsuyaKuro_]
That sounds so interesting~~~ i'll look for it now lol~~~

I would try some of the works by CLAMP, like Kobato or Cardcaptor Sakura. Kyoukai no Kanata also has a tearjerking ending. If you read manga, then try Fruits Basket (the anime isn't a very good adaptation).

5 Centimeters Per Second's ending is pretty damn sad imo, or happy depending on how you look at it. It's only about an hour long though (movie), but I highly recommend giving it a watch.

IMO, 5 Centimeters per Second was a terrible movie with amazing animation. I wouldn't even call it sad. Just depressing. Unless you're the kind of person who's into depressing anime with boring (to be nice, "realistic") plots..

I'll give it a try:

First off: I'm looking for a Slice of Life-, Comedy-, Romance-Anime like Kuragehime (Princess Jellyfish) or Kimi ni todoke,
in terms of funny or comedy I mean something like Natsume Yuujinchou (not exactly funny, but a good mix of entertaining and sad stuff),
and lastly something like Another (have seen Higurashi and Umineko, no Elfenlied please, but I am considering Shiki).
I also liked Tokyo Ghoul if that helps. I'm looking forward to suggestions!

Well last winter I watched the epic fate/zero. I loved it and this winter I am hungry for another anime dark and cruel like fate zero. I was going to watch Garden of Sinners but I cant find a (legal) streaming sight for the show, and I am not gonna buy the box set that goes for like over $700. So I hope you guys can find a great show for me too watch that captures the dark season of winter. So here is what the anime has to be like Darker animation, good story, few to zero humor so no shonen. that is pretty much it Also if you can you have a legal link to garden of sinners I would like that too.

By sight you mean "site", right? I don't think you know anything about "dark and cruel" anime if you think F/Z is one. Monster, Hellsing Ultimate, Corpse Party, since you sound like an edgy teenager too you'd probably like Elfen Lied.

And just torrent it kid. God.

Surprising it costs $700 over in the US. Here in Australia we get shafted for our anime prices (It's gotten better over the years) and the Garden of Sinners box cost $150AUD.

YOGURTOVSKY's suggestions seem right up your alley but I'll also throw in the Higurashi/Umineko series' if you haven't seen them already, Afro Samurai and Speed Grapher

Aniplexs has had a deal on their website when the show was around $150 since the deal is no longer available it now ranges to crazy numbers on eBay or Amazon. I will probably watch higurashi because I have been meaning to watch it and what perfect time because winter is like the only time I really want to watch a darker show so thx for bringing that up

By sight you mean "site", right? I don't think you know anything about "dark and cruel" anime if you think F/Z is one. Monster, Hellsing Ultimate, Corpse Party, since you sound like an edgy teenager too you'd probably like Elfen Lied.

The main reason I see fate zero as dark and cruel is the way the show kills the characters unlike aot it kills characters that I care about or ones that can change the plot drastically same for most of gen urobuchi (aka gen the butcher) writings. For example ep 3 of madoka magica threw me into the darkest abyss. Also not a big fan of shows that try to be super edegy like elfen lead or future dairy. I should of stated I was more focused on story then blood and sex. But the other shows you gave me seen like pretty good choices

Hmm idk if these are popular but in my opinion these are quite funny:
-Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi (Warning: Ecchi!)
-Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls (Warning Ecchi!)
-Special A
-Super Seisyun Brothers (14 min per ep)
-Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Tsuritama
Sayonara Zatsubou Sensei (Although the political satire probably wont have any context)
Mudazumo Naki Kaikaku: The legend of Koizumi (Completely GAR for Koizumi)
Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt
Seitokai no Ichizon

But seriously what does mainstream even mean here the only mainsteam comedies I can think of are Gintama, Luckystar, Haruhi, maybe Nichibros, NHK and Fumoffu etc.

Mahoromatic?
Working?
idk when it becomes obscure enough :|

This is a tough one.

Perhaps UN-GO, Hyouka and GOSICK

Kurenai is written by the same author and I watched it for that reason too but it is nowhere near as good maybe respond with what qualities of Denpa teki na Kanojo you enjoyed.
Stevebt123
On that note, I really recommend Hyouka. It is an excellent slice of life with some of the most adorable and likable characters

i'll go for un-go. thanks

I've always felt like Guilty Crown was just trying to be Code Geass

Anime that similar to Guilty Crown
Psycho Pass
  1. Both anime's set in the future.
  2. Both are have a lot of action.
  3. There're somethings wrong with the government.
  4. Both are have a male and female protagonist.

Anime that similar to Hamatora
Mondaiji tachi ga isekai kara kuru desu yo.
  1. Both of the MC are too OP than the others.
  2. Both have a OP group
  3. Both contains a mysterious guy and both of the MC are wears a headphones.

I don't agree with this being a reason to watch the show, the only character that I felt any sympathy for in the whole series was Kuro Usagi since the MC's were pretty much all narcissistic brats who only got away with it because of success. Show some damn modesty and work ethic, I have this same gripe with No Game No Life. OP characters are fine but atleast give them some character flaws to overcome and the ability to lose otherwise it's just the epitome of boring and terrible writing.

I think I should mention that Munto has an OVA made in 2003 and a TV series made in 2009, they both tell the same story so you don't need to watch one before the other. The series goes by the title Sora wo Miageru Shoujo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai or The world reflected in the eyes of a girl who looks at the sky shortened to Munto for obvious reasons.
Senritsu
so the OVA and the TV series have the same story? okay lols

I'm looking for some anime with intense fighting, good plot and a more serious tone to it. Preferably some darker themes as well. I haven't really explored this genre a lot so I basically haven't seen anything.

Thanks in advance!

Possibly my favorite anime of all time have been hellsing ultimate, aot, code geass, guilty crown, fma, fma brother hood and black butler. Im looking for something that is dark fantasy with more of an edge lord lead who is a bad ass. I also really enjoy the female supporting characters. I really enjoy tragedy and gore. All suggestions will be appreciated :)

Have you tried Berserk? It basically has all the features you wrote down there : ).
Too bad the anime covers like 10% of the manga and ends where stuff in manga starts to get more dense. Still good show though.
