- What prize are you thinking of to award people for winning Monthly charts?
The reason that more people don't play the month chart is that there is no prize to give the wins, for example,

Bragging rights aren't enough?
I agree with Mikhe, it would probably attract more people if there was another prize besides bragging rights. In some modes there just isn't enough competition in the monthly charts so bragging about winning that month wouldn't be 'that' special.
Probably not the right place for discussion of this, moving to feature req.
I would like to see a prize or at least a better display of winners. That said, this system is still not complete and I would like to integrate it more tightly with the future of the beatmap ranking system. I'm not sure when this will get implemented, so maybe we should consider prizing in the mean time to keep things running smoothly?

This map has been deleted on the request of its creator. It is no longer available.
I could agree with a badge or some form of symbolism of "Hey look what I did."
But really I don't think a One Month Sub is recognizable for getting a high score on 15 songs. It's the whole point of donating to become a premium member so osu! can develop better features.

In their forum post under location it could say: "Month" Ranking Chart 1st Place: "game mode"

i also have a idea to this. i thought something in the playerprofile with a little image (osu! button for example) and a number next to it. and the number is how many chart the player have previous won.
it should be something special so not every user will have this accomplishment in their profile.
so an example: mikhe wins the current ranking chart and a new element will appear to the winner profile 1"osu!" (image i mentioned before as example). now mikhe will win another ranking chart and his count will increase to 2"osu!" shown in the profile.
but this idea will need more active ranking charts i think. if it was only this monthly charts it will be 12"osu!" a year and that is not very lot for the players to try and collect this achievements. it will also animate more players to participate in the chart because collecting is fun
for this idea to work i also have idea for more charts:
there is this little box in the main menu when you start the game that says events: it is easy to see and will inform every player. also the player that not visit the forum alot to look for information. and some extra ranking chart can be set up as little events for the players, like small charts with a duration of 1 or 2 days.
this charts could be like a finished beatmap project, La Roux viewtopic.php?f=62&t=16300 for example. so the current event will be a chart to play those beatmaps in the timelimit.
another event could be some maps by a specific mapper like djpop or maps by a specific artist or genre, vocaloid, touhou, pop, techno etc etc there are many possibilities....
it should be something special so not every user will have this accomplishment in their profile.

There is already a planned future for the chart system, when I get around to implementing it.
