If you're into horror/seinen, Ibitsu is pretty good.

It's a 2 volume story of a guy that meets a woman dressed in a lolita outfit who starts stalking him to become his imouto. cute.

Hideout is another good horror manga with a bit darker themes.

If horror isn't your thing, 素晴らしい世界 (what a wonderful world) is a really nice collection of short stories.

Here is some recommendations that including in my favorite and may still be on-going, just to tell this is not put in ranking order.

1. Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai (Denpa Kyoushi -)
2. Denpa Kyoushi (Funny and feel kind of similiar to Kami nomo zo Shiru Sekai)
3. Baby Step ( Good shounen tennis manga)
4. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha ViVid ( Vivio is adorable so worth give a try)
5. Gisou Honey Trap ( Good manga )
6. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei
7. Mx0 ( Completed set but have a cliffhanging ending, very good)
8. Kikou Shoujo wa Kizutsukanai (Magic)

There is a few of them I come up with in the mind.

Since you didn't say what exactly you liked about to-love-ru or anything else you read, just going to give a long list of harem based mangas. Tell me what you think is best (going to try to separate it by sub-genre)

Well I mostly look at Slice of Life mangas because those harems are more my type of thing lol so thank you for the post.

What do you mean by gore enough?

If you mean clotted blood, there probably isn't much.
If you meant blood coming out of their bodies, there is plenty of that.
If you are looking just for bloody violence, there is probably enough for most ppl

Of course, Because they(Deadman) use their own bloods for a fight.

Been reading the English localization of Puella Magi Kazumi Magica lately. I really like it so far, and I suggest reading it if you're into the original Madoka Magica series.
I've also been waiting for the English release of the Senran Kagura: Skirting Shadows manga. I hope that'll be good, too.

So lets see, you have 4 mangas with a master-servant relationship going on, with 3 of them being adopted from light novels. Okay shouldn't be too bad to make recommendations xD

jokes aside, anyone got somenthing for similar tastes? No need to be the same thing(I would get used/bored maybe), but I liked the plans, plots,and then shyt gets real, but he keeps up and it ends all fluffy(and with the already mentioned best girl). If it wasn't ridiculously long too it would be good. (i liked this too, 31 chapter is good, too much and i think it starts getting diluted).

@EineKrone I never read Onani Master Kurosawa, so sadly I can't help you there.

@Ceph23 I don't read much horror but I will recommend Shiki (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=15089) which is not exactly scary, but the slow build up of a scary and unsettling environment is definitely worth a look (don't know a way to check the ln version, but both the manga and anime aren't too bad). The will also recommend Doubt (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=18068) which is a more typical survival game.

@Lonach Can you give a more exact idea of what you are looking for? Searching Action+Adventure+Comedy on mangaupdates pulls up 509 results (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html ... perpage=50). I could easily recommend stuff off of those 509 pieces, but I was wondering if you had something particular you are looking for. D.Gray-man is also known for many things, so curious about what exactly you liked about it.

I actually would not recommend Doubt. Honestly, the plot feels forced towards the end.

I haven't checked it out yet but I'll get to it. (Also thanks for the recommendations ^_^)
The ones I'd recommend are Ibitsu or Uzumaki. Both have horror and indeed indeed bloody. (I'd suggest Uzumaki if you're into the whole twisting body parts thing)

Or School Mermaid, which is on my list, looks fun. On a disturbing sense(if dis description is accurate)

As a mini review:

Prunus Girl: Aikawa is best grill, loved the teasing and art. Mundane made awesome was common, entertaining but I wouldn't read if wanting somenthing more serious.
Himitsu no Akuma-chan: LEEEEEEEWD. That's the word. Read it for the fanservicey succubi(inccubi?) and the amazing art, we need 3d inccubi ASAP ._.
Amahara-kun: read it for teh lulz. In the end i couldn't decide if I would report him as a sexual harasser, or pat him for helping people with their weaknesses. with their innocence as payment

I'm new in the manga world so I haven't read much I used to watch only anime until my likes began to change drastically (serious/different stuff!!! [?]) and was "forced" to read manga/ VN (I still hate read......books). I'm looking for manga with Heavy/ Controversial/ Dark plot (Genres: Seinen/ Psychological/ Tragedy/ Action) and/or a romance manga not so childish and with limited comedy unless is adult humor :D (Genres: Romance/ Seinen/ Josei/ Shoujo/ Gender Bender/ Tragedy).

Not Yaoi or Yuri unless is somehow related to the plot (Shin Sekai Yori anime reference).
If the manga is super underground, controversial, serious or have a cult then is welcome :D (not yaoi......maybe yuri :? ).
I'm very hardhead when I look for a manga to read I can't just read light stuff except for shoujo/ josei but that is because they are new for me and for that reason and didn't mention shonen :oops:

Remi94, on top on Akame ga KILL!(gets rather extreme after awhile), try Until Death Do Us Part. it's a really good series.

Thanks for the recommendations :oops: and deadbeat thanks for the Until Death Do Us Part manga I began to read it some time ago but forget about it because I didn't write the name down in a notebook in which I have the mangas or series that I'm watching/reading but somehow I forgot about it I guess because it was late and I was dead tired and that frustrated me but when I saw the name it came instantly to my mind and of course I will read Akame ga KILL! :)

Can anyone recommend me any good seinen sci fi or horror manga (for my summer break)
When I mean horror I don't mean fruity horror moe . I can't think of any at the moment but this list will sort of help with the taste of art style I enjoy:

Btooom! is a pretty good sci-fi manga, a bit similar to the Hunger Games (sorry for non-manga analogy), although its updates take forever. If you like Parasyte and Gantz, a similar manga to that is Zetman. The style and amount of gore and nudity is about the same :)
One of my favorite short manga is called Life is Money. Not necessarily sci-fi, but very psychological. Another short manga I know is called Goth. It's not sci-fi either, and is rather short, but it's something to remember :)

Noblesse (it's a manhwa, though)
Orange Marmalade (also a manhwa, and like Noblesse, about vampires; both are completely different however)
Parasyte (a little on the graphic side but definitely makes you think about life, it's also complete)
One Piece (I'm serious, you get everything from it: comedy, tragedy, action, suspense)
A Certain Scientific Railgun (I say Railgun, not Index, because I feel it has a better MC, and this one will get you thinking about life)
Yotsubato (this is one of best slice of life out there)
Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (school life of outcasts + teacher with tentacles, quite interesting and unique)
Rosario + Vampire (both seasons, except the second is less lighthearted and does a good job confronting complications between inner and outer Moka)

Most of these series are already well known so I hope there's at least one you haven't read yet.

Have you ever read Dragon Head?!? If not that's one of my most favorite psychological horror mangas it makes you think about life and fear. And it's one of those mangas that you don't want to stop reading! (Especially the first arc!!!!!)

There are actually a lot of "slice of life" + "drama" manga out there.. However, most of them are shojo. "School life" can also be considered a sub-genre of "slice of life."
As for physical editions (I'm assuming that means published-in-English volumes), I know you can find series such as Skip Beat, Fruits Basket, The Wallflower, and Oreimo in bookstores and libraries.

Among those series I know, I can only recommend Fruits Basket because it is a must read regardless of whatever gender you are or whatever genres you are into..

If you have trouble finding manga of those genres, I can suggest that you find an online website that provides free scanlations of manga and use the tags "slice of life" and "drama to filter your search down and choose a series you may be interested in. Chances are, they'll be a physical edition of it.

I'm looking for something like Zero (Manhwa) or Ruler of the Land, something like badass protagonist has a badass family (lol) and badass power(s) and some romance too. It can be a Manga or Manhwa, but if possible pls let it has at least 50 chapters (i don't like it too short), the longer the better. And pls no Naruto or Bleach or DBZ or something that is way too popular, so much that i know the story already.

DoraBase? It's not "really" Doraemon, but more like a spin-off of it about Baseball.

I realize that this is already two weeks old, but I think you should give 'Pluto' by Naoki Urasawa a try. It's sort of a remake of an older Astro Boy story with the main character position shifted to another robot than Atom, but absolutely worth the read.

Any particular time you're looking for? The ones I can spontaneously think of are Historie (Ancient Greece, ongoing), Vagabond (Sengoku Era, ongoing) and Vinland Saga (Vikings, ongoing).
Billy Bat has some historical elements as well, though gets more in the Sci-Fi direction as it progresses.

I've been meaning to read Vinland Saga, and the others sound interesting, so I'll give those a shot!

As far as preferred region/period, European history prior to the 20th century is preferred but I'm open to more. I've been reading Wolfsmund and Emma lately but that's about it, so thank you for the suggestions!

Why is the Anime thread so much more active? Manga needs some love.
Welcome to the NHK's manga adaptation is probably my most favorite of the various incarnations. Really hits home, although nowhere near as close as Oyasumi Punpun.
If you want some shonen historical, then Kingdom's always a good place to start. Things like Nobanagun are also out there, but I hope you like mechs.

In that case, I am looking for manga similar to Nichijou. I am holding off on reading it for couple months after watching the anime (because I like to forget and be surprised again), but would like some slapstick comedy reads in the meanwhile. I've read/am reading School Rumble, Azumanga Daioh, and Aho Girl, so series like that, too, are welcome.

I think the general population consists of more anime watchers than manga readers, which could explain the lack of activity..
(but yes I am aware that many do both)

Not asking for a suggestion. I read this manga long time ago but forget the title.

Here's the synopsis:
There was an elementary school student who is a pianist. One day he/she found a piano in the forest and tried to play it. No sound came out of it. Then he met a child his/her age and that child could play the piano brilliantly. But when he/she let that child play with a normal piano, he played very poorly.

Anyone knows what I'm talking about? Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso reminded me of this one.
