Beat 'em Ups, Rythm, 2D Shoot 'em Ups (also linked to the shooters like Gradius & Twinbee etc. and also those fancy danmaku games (e.g.: dodonpachi)), RTS, Jump 'n Runs...
basically a shitton of genres mostly back then when i first encountered the first arcade machines and consoles.
