I feel like showing how poor America's education system is:
My high school, where in my Freshman year they had us all line up at the wall in PE and sniffed our hands to see who was smoking weed - BTW, if you couldn't guess we had an 89% minority enrollment and an 80% free/reduced lunch rate - is ranked 28th in the state.
Out of 786 high schools.
Granted, we had pretty good teachers (with a few exceptions, of course), and the rankings take things like poverty into account, but that's still sad. The poverty adjustment isn't that big, either - the top 10 is made up of schools full of rich kids.
