I'm not denying that fact; I'm just saying that yeah, it's fun to ridicule America (as an American I do it all the time) but it's also important to not be ignorant and see the truth in an objective manner.mathexpert9981 wrote:

American politics have the potential to affect the entire world, due to it's central position in the world today. This can be seen simply just by asking anybody at random what the leader of say, Germany, China, or Japan is. It is likely that they won't know, but basically the entire world knows that the President of the Unite States is Obama. While it's easy to dismiss this as a result of news networks or American jingoism, it truly attests to the widespread influence the US has. Another example is (for better or worse) the middle east. The Iraq/Afghanistan war (basically the war on terror as a whole) has affected the middle east in many ways, both positively and negatively. Even though admittedly I'm against these wars, again, it's another example of the influence that the US has.Kanye West wrote:

a song dedicated to people like you, my friend
I totally agree with you on that, the US has major problems that are fueled by big corporations. My faith in US as a country has declined so much to the point that it's nonexistent, and I'm only reminded of how BS-filled this country is every day at school, when I recite the mandatory "Pledge of Allegiance" and omit the phrase "under god".Tanzklaue wrote:

LOGIC on OSU!? What is this I don't eve-Kaoru wrote:
To be completely fair, I think everyone's opinion about the US and the world may be a little biased here. I say that because all of us are able to be sitting here talking on a computer with eachother. Being able to talk over the internet naturally requires a little bit of money, meaning we all are wealthy to some extent. The US, by comparison to countries without these luxury appliances, is incredibly rich. Even by global standards the US is still a wealthy country- just because we are backed in no resources and import all of our goods doesn't mean we don't have wealth. Now I'm no patriot --I think there's a lot of stuff wrong with our government and economy that needs to be sorted out. But that doesn't mean I think that the USA is a bad place. Quite the contrary. After being in southeast asia for 3 months, I can really appreciate the quality of life over here.
