The way they were all clinging to the idiot ball was really frustrating to watch, but the Fallout reference makes up for it.

I can only think of two "Applejack" episodes. Applebuck Season and The Last Roundup. They're both phenomenal episodes. 2/2 is better than 2/6, I guess.anthonyyy0 wrote:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Fluttershy been completely shafted in Season 2? I don't particularly care for Fluttershy, but that doesn't mean she isn't deserving of her own episode or two. Everypony else has been getting a lot of love, but no Fluttershy.

Pinkie didn't really learn anything, though, despite her claim. All through the episode, she still kept doing her own thing. The denouement wasn't her realising she'd been obnoxious, it was her continuing being her, increasingly so, in fact, in order not as much to make amends, but to almost forcefully extract an apology that would only serve to make her feel good about herself. Only luck could (and did) get her out of this. Also, consider that her pivotal help wasn't all that necessary at all; Cranky Doodle was sure to run into Matilda in Ponyville sooner or later, unless you'd have me believe he'd live like a hermit for the rest of his life, in which case I'd remind you of Zecora, who lives isolated in the forest and still visited once in a while even when the whole town feared her.

There's a lot of evidence to suggest Pinkie Pie has an unstable psyche though. She doesn't handle rejection well (if at all) and can easily supplement reality with denial. I found it more interesting that the episode played out the way it did. Pinkie Pie probably has the most interesting internal dilemmas and self-perception of the entire cast and I always find it fun to see that surface in subtle ways
