Basically it is incredibly unfair to place a cult in a game later on than day one, because they need absolute majority, and more often than not becoming a cult member robs you of your role. A lot of players also induce what you could call "culter's regret" where they just drop their shit and walk away and say "I'm culted lynch me." Also terrible: so far my experience with cults has been that you can't recruit mafia, so you have to worry about both mafia killing you off and town lynching you off.
End note: you can only win cult if you can get a lot of members before any of them die, which is essentially impossible if you don't get to play right away from day one and include the more active players. Showing up a day late like I did means that where a normal cult would have 4 members now I'd only have 3, which is just the worst bullshit.
funfact elsewhere I was a cult leader after I met a strange dumb duel wincon, so I was on day four as the only cultie and I was expected to get majority.
