M(ry and I are agreeing in our preference of emotional impulses together, it's amusing me to no end...! I'm going to die early because of repeated bursts of happiness, oh god...! Though I'm worrying that sooner or later we might be fighting for dibs on Sengoku OwO Oh but I don't care, everything's been much happier than I expected ♥ I don't know if I should feel guilty for keeping it to myself; only 5 other people can see what she's been doing OwO the 5 includes me hehehehe ♥♥♥Don't forget guys, September downloadable songs for PSPDX is tomorrow!
And time for off-topic modo
Anyone notice that I've disappeared for a long while tonight?
Well, I just recently bought myself a new DVD Writer (finally), so I was able to burn a crapload of PS2 games again!
And for today... My fingers are insanely sore and my palm is crying. However, they are finally baptized with one of the most cruel rhythm games ever.
Today marks the day I make first contact with IIDX! lol
Unfortunately, no, I don't have an authentic IIDX controller. I however cannot bare using the dualshock for this game. I do not want to be trapped like what's happening with me in PnM! So I had to improvise...
Random bootleg fightstick that is absolutely horrible compared to the real ones, go!

The 4 buttons at the bottom are for the bottom buttons, while the 3 right most are for the top buttons. The turntable is mapped to the stick, which is not seen here. I use my wrist to hit the turntable. Retarded, I know.
Obviously, this is going to be horrible as an IIDX controller. But I don't have anything better, anyway. And it's much better than using a dualshock.
Tilt it a few degrees counter clockwise so that the top buttons are a bit more centered. The distancing is still horrible as ever, I know.
So what did I do? Of course I booted up Disc 2 of IIDX16 CS and
Obviously I failed my first 50 plays. I don't see any surprises there myself.
BTW everything I'm playing is obviously all on Normal diff. Don't expect me to move to Hyper in the next 3 weeks though. And as for Another diff... oh god give me another lifetime or something. Or 2, since I might not be able to still get an IIDX controller in my next life lol
I couldn't really describe what I felt, but all I can say is that after playing until 22:30 (starting from around 19:00) I think I'm comfortable with clearing 4-stars now. For some odd reason for me HS2.0 is actually kind of hard to read with songs over 180 BPM though T_T
I switched to Disc 1 in the middle because I figured that Disc 2 seemed to be a compilation of IIDX favorites, which means that there were almost absolutely no newbie friendly songs in there. But hey, this game isn't newbie friendly at all, so yeah.
And it's a good thing 16IIDX CS had some of the modern 573 favorites. Stuck with those instead. smooooch in particular was fortunately borderlining my skill, so I think I played that for about an hour straight to get used to the controls. Not sure how much good it did to me, but I'm able to pass Rin to Shite comfortably at least. BTW I also played Rin to Shite for a good hour too, I think.
When I felt that I was getting really tired, I tried looking at smooooch's Hyper. And first impressions? Hyper looks like a very exciting difficulty to play.
Also played a few 4 star and 5 star songs I heard for the first time. Unfortunately I don't remember their titles. Lol.
Now for a bit more ranting/impression elaboration
With my improvised 'controller', hitting tuirntable + the leftmost button becomes insanely retarded.
OR it could possibly be the PnM PSP curse getting to me; my right hand absolutely does not want to hit buttons on the left part of the controller, and vice versa. Even that short 4-6-4-6-4 5-note stream on Rin to Shite, I noticed, is always done by my right hand (two fingers, obvs), with my left hand left stationary. Same thing happened to me when I played PnM CS in Singapore. Ugh.
As for my general impessions on the game itself? I'm not sure what to feel about its non-newbie friendliness. IMO, you absolutely CANNOT start a rhythm game career with IIDX. Nope, definitely not. Or maybe that's because I jumped immediately to 7 buttons. Wait, does this game even have 5 button? The Normal notecharts already equate to the 9-button notecharts of PnM. And Normal is the easiest difficulty. That's very unforgiving if you ask me. This game also has the most unforgiving HP mechanics ever.
It's like impossible to pass a song if your ranking is lower than A. Seriously. And it also has the same PnM-HP curses as the two games have similar HP systems... just that IIDX is more strict in its life recovery. ._.
Hm... what else do I want to say... I think I'm out of words here.
Oh well. Fingers are sore, left wrist is unreasonably dead. And I've been IIDX baptized. Still not sure what to feel orz.
