I am using a Wacom tablet with osu and running in window mode. Recently, I had the problem that cursor suddenly stuck in there and never move. The left click is not working sometimes when I am not playing, if move cursor out of the window it can never move back.

I have tried full screen mode and different tablet option under input options. The problem still there.

I checked my tablet, it works fine. I have this problem after recent osu updates.

Can it be the problem of the game?

Thanks. But it was 1.0. I have never change that.

I have a Wacom tablet as well and this happens to me sometimes in the middle of a song. If you hit the tablet surface with your stylus often then the tablet stops functioning randomly. The tablet light is still on but it doesn't work. The only fix I know of is to unplug and re-plug the USB after exiting osu. After that you have to go to Bamboo Preferences and click on Default and then restart osu. There are no new drivers that that I know of that fix this issue...

I had the same problem since I bought the pen tablet
Unplug, plug the tablet and restart osu! did not work :(
My tablet continues stopping when playing
If anyone know how to fix this issue please post the solution here
PS: There's a new driver for the pen version tablet in the official page so you can download it here: http://www.wacom.com/downloads/driver-detail.php?id=223

This happens to me from time to time as well.

Has been happening for quite a while, and my first inquiry (on IRC) was pretty much met with "Update your drivers".
It's worth noting that it only happens in osu!, though.

This is continuing to happen for me, and has been for quite some time.

this happens to me to but I use a wireless mouse...

Happens to me when the nib is dying.

Other threads have reported some tablets have a standby mode where they will be less responsive (usually if the pen has not touched the surface recently). This may be the issue, though I'm not sure if such a feature is implemented on any wacom devices.
Daru
I think that this is related to osu! more than the tablets.

This will happen only in osu!, and restarting osu! will fix this. It seems to happen randomly, and I have updated drivers for my tablet multiple times since this problem started and it hasn't fixed itself.

Is there a way to view a or send a log of events in osu! when this happens?
Shael_old
same.

osu! uses the Microsoft Ink API to interact with tablets (and avoid things like delays when tapping). I have tested for around 30 minutes using a wacom graphire4 without any problems. Therefore, if you are having problems, it is likely your drivers. There isn't really any logic in osu! that can fail. The reason it may only fail in osu! is because nothing else on your system actually handles the tablet using that API.

Try removing all wacom tablet drivers and using your tablet in relative movement mode (with MS drivers). See if this helps. In this mode it will not be using the Ink API if I recall correctly.

I actually experience a rather significant delay when I tap on my main computer.
That aside, I tried using my tablet on my laptop, which is running Windows 7 with no Wacom drivers, and the tablet was detected as a generic input device. While I did not get any errors within osu!, I believe using a tablet in relative movement mode rather defeats the purpose of using one in the first place. Furthermore, I don't see the uninstallation of Wacom drivers to be a practical solution to those of us affected by this.

Would it be possible for osu! to support the Wintab API as well?

peppy
I am not calling it a feasible solution. I am asking you to test. Have you tested installing a fresh copy of the wacom driver on the other PC too?

If you figure out what it causing this issue, let us know. I've recently reinstalled my windows and started having this problem with my tablet in osu, I wasn't before. I have the latest drivers for the tablet directly from bamboo website (also tried the drivers on the disc that came with it that worked fine prior), I'm pretty clueless at this point and it seems to happen pretty randomly...once every hour or so it seems, 5-10 seconds where cursor doesn't respond.

The only difference that I know of between before I reformatted and now is before I had the "Tablet PC Input Service" disabled, which its been enabled since i've reinstalled. So I'm going to try disabling that again and report back if it resolves the issue.
Xact
The "Tablet PC Input Service" is the culprit as I suspected. I've played about 5 hours now without a single cursor freeze since disabling it.

To disable this service:

Press Windows key + R (or go to start and type this in the search bar) "services.msc"

Then locate the "Tablet PC Input Service":

Right click it and choose properties:

You'll see the above, press "STOP" to stop the service and then change the "STARTUP TYPE" to "DISABLED".

You should have no more cursor freezes.
peppy
Great to see someone show the initiative to find the source of this problem. I'm interested to know if it works for others.
Daru
My Tablet PC Input Service has been disabled, yet the problem is still occurring.

I actually suspected that it might be a corrupted dll, so I ran "sfc /scannow" from cmd.
I ran the scan, which found errors and reportedly fixed them, then restarted. Since restart, I have had no problems for about two hours of play, but upon recovering from sleep, I got a stuck cursor within minutes.

EDIT:
On a whim, I've restarted the "TabletServicePen" and "TabletServiceWacom" services, right after the cursor got stuck again. Testing now.
peppy
This is an interesting one. I know a lot of drivers have huge problems with restoring for sleep (I own at least four devices which have problems) so this could be a very real problem with the wacom drivers themselves.
Xact
I doubt its anything to do with drivers, it's likely something conflicting with them, not the drivers themselves.

The only thing I can say is, disable all unneeded services (if you know what you're doing) and cut everything running in the background (messengers, antivirus, etc) and see what happens then.
Xact
A little more follow up, noticed after rebooting I kept having the cursor freezes and forgot to mention this. "wisptip.exe", is the actual cause of this, I thought by disabling the service it would simply get rid of it but I was wrong, it boots at startup and is re-launched by using various types of applications (adobe, silverlight, etc). I'm really still not quite sure why it causes these random cursor freezes, but then again. .it IS from microsoft.

So basically if you're getting cursor freezes, look in your task manager for it. If you find it, right click it and end its process.

Highlighted wisptis.exe process:

peppy
I'm going to sticky this for now because it feels like a lot of people could benefit from this. Please post if it helped you so I can gauge how serious this problem is.
Luna
Quick question:
Does the wisptis.exe disappear from the Task Manager when you close osu!?
This issue happened to me a few minutes ago and I closed osu! before looking up a solution and finding this thread. When I checked for the wisptis.exe it wasn't there.
Maybe it's called something different because I use a German computer, but looking through the Process Descriptions I couldn't find anything like it.
So if it's a permanent process that is supposed to stay after closing osu! this *.exe is probably not the cause. If it is connected to osu! and macically disappears after exiting the game then I can't give any more input until this happens again~

/E: Wow, that probably sounded more confusing than anything... orz
Xact
Actually yeah, for some reason it comes on when Osu is opened and dissapears when osu is closed. I just saw it running, so I closed Osu and it dissapeared as well. Really strange.

So when Osu running, kill that process and you should have no more cursor freezes. Hopefully we'll get something going and fix this issue all together.

Xact wrote:

I did try that a few weeks ago and it didn't work.
The WISPTIS.EXE (with capital letters) reappeared after a few minutes meanwhile playing.
Even if you close it, the process will remain active.
Tired of closing every 10 to 20 minutes, I got rid of it, erasing it from the Register Editor. As a result, it did not reappear.
Mysteriously, I was able to re-spawn it from the \WINDOWS\system32 directory.
I see this program is not essential, since still there are problems with the cursor on my pc.
EDIT: Now is not a start up program, that means I have to open it manually in the system32 windows subfolder.
Daru
I can confirm that the problem on my end was the wisptis.exe process.
The cursor froze up, and unfroze after I ended the process.
Waryas
Is there a way to kill it alltogether? It respawns time to time.
Pimpi
If you know how to use the Regedit, then use the F3 button to search for wisptis.exe register files and delete them. Otherwise, then better is to keep away from that place. lol
I don't know if there is other way but it works fine to me
peppy
The interesting part about this is that I specifically implemented support for "wisptis" in order to make touch-screen PCs behave better. It seems that this does not help for semi-supported tablet peripherals, so there may need to be a disable for this functionality.
Daru
I was able to stop the process from starting automatically by renaming "wisptis.exe" in the system 32 folder.
I just stuck .old to the end.
Rasyad95
Mine goes worse than i imagined. because I searh the "wisptis.exe" in task manager and it doesn't appear, so i look at \system32 folder. Once i found it, i somehow did right-click (?) and my cursor freeze. I tried to stop it in task manager, but it keeps reapearing. After few deleted, i can't click anything in my computer, so i had to restart mine.

My tablet actually was Hanvon, but i have a same problem here.

My specs :

And i disable all detail settings except background vid and snaking sliders

Note : i cant access either regedit or services.msc
Thx before

...Eh?
Main cause I find for tablet lag is tabtip.exe, end that and it should work fine o.O

All tabtip is, is the on screen keyboard which is almost never used unless you don't have one pluged in.

Also i'm a tabletPC user so it may be different.

Also @ Rasyad95

wisptis.exe is a service.
If you seriously want to disable it; take a look here.
http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1260

Download the script at the botom and execute it.

I don't see why you would though :/ I never have.
laport
i managed to delete wisptis.exe, but only after making myself owner of the file, and then closing all dialogs and then editing the permissions of my user and SYSTEM to full control. (win7)
tablet stopped working when i did this, but after 5 seconds the input was working again and this time without any wisptis process in the task manager.
I made a fake 0 kb wisptis.exe just in case windows tries to spawn a new one.

If you did it correctly, this message pops up when you start osu! (don't worry, the tablet still works)

which probably has to do with this

(happy to report, no "stuck cursor" problems ever since, after many days of playing)

i have to note that i always have sleep/hybernation mode disabled, pc is either on or off, my stuck cursor was related to wisptis.exe

looks like we can close the file on this one viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15054 :)

Not sure if this will help, Peppy. But I first got my tablet and...

1. Open box plug it in
2. Windows 7 64-bit installs it's own drivers.
3. I install the drivers from the CD without uninstalling the current drivers.
4. Left click gets stuck not only in osu! but in everything else, too.
5. Get really fecking aggravated and throw a fit.
6. Realise there are new drivers online.
7. Find a driver and install it from the official Wacom website
8. Install that without uninstalling the CD ones.
9. FINE!
10. Step 4 happens again
11. Turn off meh PC
12. Turn it back on and it's fine !!

Not had a problem since ;)

Getting this problem.

I can't fix it through ending wisptis process (fixes it, but respawns in 3 seconds or less), tried doing everything shown in this thread, and I still get the stuck cursor problem (and most of the times, too, the cursor always shows as the left button is being pressed, even outside osu!) and it's bad because I know it's wisptis and I can't fix it.
Cheer-no
Try following the instructions in this post: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5537&postcount=7

Seems pretty legit, the rest of the thread has positive feedback about it.

This might be your best bet.
Froslass
Everytime I try to delete the registry entries, I end up with "You cannot delete this entry" error, even though I have all admin privileges on this computer.
Cheer-no
That's probably because wisptis is running. I dunno how you'd fix that, uhh... kill wisptis from the task manager and use the 3 seconds of freedom to murder a registry entry?
laport
it might have to do with permissions of the file. make yourself owner of the file wisptis.exe and maybe reboot without tablet in safe mode to kill any wisptis process remaining and delete wisptips.exe

and make a new "fake" one with notepad (save an empty text file as "wisptis.exe")
Daru
So, disabling the Tablet PC service and turning off the Windows feature seems to kill wisptis.exe permanently.

> Disable "Tablet PC Input Service"

> Control Panel > Programs and Features
> Turn Windows Feature on or off
> Turn off "Tablet PC Components"

So.. I'm having a cursor problem.
I've changed nibs a couple of days ago & I've also disabled / deleted anything related to wisptis.exe. I don't know what the problem is really. It also sometimes comes rarely with a lag spike, the cursor freezing of course. It tends to freeze at the exact same parts of the exact same songs. It's bothering me because I can't play anything without it freezing on me.

Sure, it freezes a lot less now but it's still freezing.

Ok, i hope this will help the people out there:

Iv had problems with my bamboo sometime aswell, suddenly it wouldnt move anymore untill i re-hovered the pen, i noticed that if i shut down wisptis.exe while still hovering, the tablet would do this, and i noticed wisptis starts as soon as osu starts even after force killing the procces and then restarting osu, also, when you have osu active and then kill wisptis and then click the '' force tabletpc support'' in osu, it will freeze for some seconds and starts the wisptis procces. Wisptis Defenitely conflicts with osu, also when i close osu and my pen is still hovering it will freeze untill i re-hover it..

The problem is most likely wisptip procces, i think i seem to fix it by doing this:

Disabled tabletpc input in ''services'' and followed some other tips here in this thread.

Then i did the following thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9TOWxZGbJc

Apply this in the System32 folder by Wisptis, now, rename wisptip.exe to like wisptis.old(you most likely got to shut down wisptips.exe in procces list before you can do that, so do that first)

then, when you start osu, wisptips will not load, make sure to have *force tabletpc support'' of in the Osu settings, this will also give a message in the corner that it failed to intilize the tablet pc, but that message does not come when the option is not ticked off.

I think its better to have wisptip disabled at all on a non tablet pc because you just want pure Bamboo settings and not another one conflicting with it, also disabling wisptip resolves the issue that when you click a circle comes on ur cursor, and fixes the problem that when you tab the pen on the tablet it wouldnt click unless you double clicked.

I hope Peppy read this and give some feedback about this, im not sure if its a osu problem actually, but its supporting wisptis, and wisptis conflicts with bamboo, so..(wisptis even starts up when ''force tabletpc support'' isnt enabled in options

Goodluck to you all :)
peppy
I have changed the behaviour in osu! to only engage Microsoft Ink support when the "force tablet" option is chosen. This means by default it will be totally disabled, hopefully solving issues with dodgy tablet drivers.

Please let me know how this goes (you can test on the test build already, if possible).
Colored
just a question: i have 2 processes "pen_tablet.exe"

Is it ok?:o
Mayutan
woah forcing tablet really helped me out! thanks alot :)
peppy
This change is now in the public release. Make sure to restart osu! if you change "tablet pc" support from ENABLED to DISABLED. This may help those people which have had long-term problems with their tablets (the one where they have to end process of that windows service).
Nyari
The force table support worked! Thanks Peppy!
