Just wondering about if either the mouse or the tablet players are more.
I'm personally using a mouse, and don't think I'll ever get a tablet.

I've recently changed from playing mouse to tablet, I can say it's harder to hold the pen for a long time but you can play slightly better.

Don't understand the thread. If you mean the amount of players then I guess there are more mouse players than tablet players. If you mean which is more "pro" to play than it's more or less personal opinion although I think that tablet does have a slight advantage towards mouse.

Ever since I started using a tablet (and i have just started) jumps have gotten much harder while streams have gotten so much easier. However, that may be because I am now forced to use z/x. Pretty fun to play on, too
mekadon_old
I use mouse-only and tablet. I find tablet is fine for both jumps and streams and mouse-only is fine for jumps, streaming in mouse-only is fine but the awkward moment when you suddenly move the mouse somewhere else and get misses..
Froslass
IMHO it's easier but less fun.
FoxCat
Tablet and Mouse are so mainstream but I think there are slightly more Pro Tablet players than Pro Mouse players, by the way, what's IMHO? o.o

There's probably fewer playing with tablets naturally, everyone owns a mouse and not everyone is going to want to buy a tablet just to play Osu with unless they really enjoy playing Osu.

Tablet > Mouse in osu, it's not debatable and I'm a huge fan of mice primarily being a FPS player. Is it worth the investment if you're just playing Osu? If you play alot, I'd say so. It's more fun and easier on your hand and wrist...not to mention no more of those awkward moments where your hand gets twisted and you're begging for a pause so you can readjust your mouse.

There's really nothing a mouse does that a tablet can't do better for the gameplay in Osu, that's just how it is with Osu by design. However, on FPS games if you were to tell me a tablet is better than a mouse, I'd laugh at you. Just like I laugh at people saying mouse is legitimately better on Osu.

Nope
ever since I started playing with a tablet I've had to deal with immense wrist pain that won't go away

From what I know if you get pain from it, then you are doing something wrong and it can damage your wrist for your lifetime.

Yes, make pain your friend and you'll be unstoppable.

(I've never had any wrist pain from playing with a tablet)

i'm starting to play tapping the tablet with my feet, it's kinda hard with streams but jumps are way easier

By design is osu! a game for touchscreens like the original game. But thanks to hardcore gameplay it is harder to play with touchscreen than even with a mouse.

I've never had pain from when I switched from mouse to tablet. I actually bought a tablet because I couldn't take the pain of using a mouse anymore and it was either get a tablet to see if I could continue playing Osu or have to stop altogether, as osu isn't worth the risk to my health (pains from breaking my right hand when i was younger). It's ALOT more ergonomic than a mouse with osu, I've had no issues since making the switch unless I play really hard, and then its only a tired type of soreness instead of sharp pains like with mouse. You're probably having wrist pains because you're "death griping" the pen, could be other reasons but I don't see any reason why the pen would cause more problems than a mouse unless you're simply just trying too hard.

How about playing with keyboard only? Oh wait...

can anyone help me with this? i've written a post in the wacom forums but the answer i got didn't really clarify anything.

[quote="http://forum.wacom.eu/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8423":216b9]hello,

today i've bought my first tablet, the wacom bamboo pen 2011 (CTL-470K). i do not have any previous experience with tablets.

the installation went fine, tablet worked out of the box, i've adjusted the tablet area to my needs and started a session of games (yes, that's what i bought the tablet for). i've noticed the lift-off-distance is very low so i had to adjust quite a bit before i got used to it. after an hour i've noticed that the tracking gets really bad when moving fast while hovering. is this an issue of all tablets (esp. the CTL-460, because that was my other option), is it a common problem on CTL-470K models or is only my tablet faulty?

here is an example to clarify what i mean:
it feels so weird, should i give it a few more hours to get used to it?
cococococo_old
im keyboard only at catch the beat (when relax is off)

01/05/12. Will the record survive 2012!?

oh and mouse is still better than tablet. Just to keep this somewhat ontopic.

Seriously, what's the point in arguing about personal preferences?
nebiki
yeah, what's the point? you should focus on helping me here. i've found out the tracking is okay up to 3mm, after which it becomes poor. after 6mm it doesn't track at all. do your CTL-460s track better?
Neruell
Don't know the exact range but I got used to hovering and works pretty fine and never got any problems with it.

Not much difference here, my CTL470K has a similar tracking distance even though I read somewhere on an online something or another ( D: ) that it should track from 16mm. Not like you can attach fixed values to magnetic induction anyway. Sometimes it picks up the pen from 10+ mm away and sometimes not, but the tracking is very poor until its 3mm from the surface.

It's good up until like you say about 3mm or so, it's something you get used to. The more you use it, the less you notice even how far your pen is from the tablet...it just becomes natural more or less. Tablets are awkward to use at first, but once you get it down its really fun to play with. You can't run until ya learn how to walk! :D All around, it's improved my game play, without question. Personally, I wouldn't over think it too much. If you can afford it and you love playing Osu, if anything it's worth to buy just to try. At most places, you have up to 30 days to return it if you don't like it however it may take that long (if not longer) to get the full hang of the tablet and start seeing where it really shines compared to mice once your skill level with it increases.

I got my CTL-460 for 45 USD (refurbished - basically brand new with 1 year warranty). If you can find a deal similar to that, then defiinitely...pick one up.
