Question about mecha-keyboards.

Um... hi.
I thought to myself "hey, get a mechanical keybord" and then "lol k".
So my question is, I have three on my mind:
The Razer BlackWidow - Blue switches;
The CM STORM Quick Fire Tk / Rapid - Red probabbly;
Steelseries 6gv2 - dunno which switches, probabbly red..

I know this has been answered 666 times already, but none answer came close to what I want.

So... my questions:
1. Which one is best for osu! and typing?
2. Is BlackWidow really so lame it breaks after a month of use?
3. I think some top players used BW and did lame with it, true?
4. Red switches are to light, I need harder ones like blue or brown but everyone says "Blue is bad khshhh". Should I consider them at all?

So... thanks for the answers up ahead. And yea, I read like 40 threads about mecha-keyb's, how they work and stuff so I know what which switch does and all.

For tapping fast you'd benefit more from reds, but they are just about the least comfortable switch to type on. Blacks work as a middleground, they are slightly heavier than reds and as such emulate a tiny bit of feedback.

The blackwidow is poplar because it's cheap and not a bad keyboard for what it costs, it's fine and wont break down on you, but there's so many far better choices. The 6gv2 and quickfire tk are both great. Read up on mechanical switches and pick a keyboard you like that has the ones you want.

Whch ones would be the "far better choices" to go with?
I really need help with choosing it, I feel bad cause I don't know which one to pick and I don't want to end with something I won't be able to play osu! on.

The difference is close to only visual appeal, given you buy from a reliable brand.

The 6gv2s are as simple and cheap as they get, these and the quickfires are about as cheap as you can go for a good and reliable keyboard.

Anything from filco, ducky and zowie is good as well, but you should pick a keyboard after what you want and need, not solely recommendations. Reds and blacks are linear and will be slightly easier to mash fast on, browns are in my opinion the best switch to type on. I don't see why you'd get blues, but some people like them.

Read up on these four, and go to a store and try some mechanical switches out.
Pizzicato
im using blues. i tried all switches but blues topped my standards. been using this for a year now.

it's all about personal preference don't listen to them blue haters
And i suggest ducky shine 2 or CMstorm quickfire TK

1. Blues/browns. It's easier to have typos on reds. Blacks are a bit hard for typing
2. Yes. I broke mine after 5 months or so
3. idk abt cookiezi, but silvia switched from 6gv2 to blackwidow
4. like i said. it's all opinions.

You can play with any of them. It's a matter of choosing what mechanism you'd like and then if you'd like light or heavy switches unless you're considering extra features in your purchase as well, like a wrist-rest or media controls. Do you want something that doesn't provide any feedback when you press the key? Reds for light, blacks for heavy < these are optimized for gaming. Do you want something that is extremely audible and you can feel when the key actuates? Blues for light, green for heavy < these are optimized for typing. Or if you want a compromise between the two, something where you can feel the key actuate without it making as much noise as the tactile keys (blue/green). Browns for light, greys for heavy (although I doubt you'd find these).

Who in their right mind would use greens? \:D/

About CM Storm's TK.
The only one I can get is a TK with brown-switches. Dunno if it's any good. I kind off set my mind on blue :/

OK, I'M GOING TO THE ELECTRO-STUFF-COOL-GAMING-ITEM SHOP AHAHA.
Hope they got mech's so I can try some of them D:

I'll tell you what I decided when I come back.

Black switches are great, I would recommend them over reds, I switched from blacks to reds and after a month of using reds I switched back to blacks for a day and they were still way better. I use blacks now. Never tried others.

Also I'd say that it's much easier to go very fast with blacks compared to reds but it'll take longer to build your stamina up. Reds for me were just too light and they keys didn't come back up fast enough.

Well... After i start earning my own money...
I began to think that this slab of keys stuck together for 150 dollars is not really worth it...

Membrane keyboards are excellent for stamina training anyway

If u still want to go for it
Get either red or black keys........
I tried them but not actually used them for osu! before but i can say they are pretty neat for streaming

the blackwidow tournament edition is a "budget" mech kb
I dont think the big one is worth the money at all....
Because you can get other stuff that looks much better and performs better by adding a little money to it

CM Storm Quick Fire TK is one neat looking one i think :D
I was interested in it
If people want to buy a mech keyboard mainly for osu! ill recommend the compact size ones....
They save u table space so u can have more space for yourself.... if u have a small table
It is easy to store too......
And its cheaper

Unless you are some sort of gamer that needs all sorts of macro

._. How do people break their Black Widow so easily....
I've had mine for over a year. I don't recommend it though, too expensive for its regular price.

it really depends on the store or country. a mid-level Blackwidow (which i use currently) is slightly cheaper than quickfire TK. i chose blackwidow because i know i'm gonna use those macro functions someday somewhere. Quickfire TK doesn't have macro, but it has backlighting which some players find useful.

and i thought blues are the best for typing because of its tactile feedback (clickiness of the keys), though it would take some time to get used to typing with a blackwidow because the typing area is much smaller than a regular keyboard and LOL fonts.

OK, I'M BACK.

THE BAD NEWS:
There is no dumb pc store ANYWHERE where you could test keyboards. The guys who are selling stuff don't even know what mechanical keyboards are (welcome in poland). Only option - buy and be happy or regret cause you don't know why you just wasted all your money for this stuff lol.

THE OTHER BAD NEWS:
It's not like the BlackWidow is cheapper. In fact, here in poland it's like 15$ difference between the old BlackWidow and QuickFire TK so I'm probabbly gonna go with TK.

Ah, how much I hate living here. Still, TK is here in poland only RED and BROWN switches. And as I think red is just to light for me I'll get the brown one.

( ;-; Please, tell me browns are good, even if not write here please how fantastic they are ;-; )

BTW.
I have my normal A4Tech gaming keyboard, use it since 4 years and all my buttons are perfectly fine working, never had any issue with them .m.
uzzi
Browns should be alright, iirc the only notable difference between reds and browns is that browns give tactile feedback (so you sorta feel a click when you type). Same actuation as reds too.
TakuMii
I have Browns, and I like them. Some people seem to dislike them for some reason though.
Browns are just as light as Reds, but have a slight tactile bump. It's kind of like a cross-breed between Blues and Reds (although the tactile bump is more consistent unlike the slight unevenness of Blues), so they're pretty good for all-around use. A couple of high-level players of other rhythm games (such as FFR and Stepmania) also use Browns, and some of them actually recommend them over Reds due to the tactile bump helping with accuracy.
thelewa
You don't need the tactile bump for osu! because of hitsounds

I set up my mind lol
If I can get a cheap BlackWidow Ultimate I'm going for it, otherwise it'll be the QuickFire cause it looks bad ass. In fact every MK looks badass but who cares. Right? Right. Brown switches shall it be! Thanks everyone for your answers, love you like kfc chicken wings.

you need it in games like stepmania because there are no hitsounds and you have no way to tell when the hit is being registered if you play with linear switches

but you can't feel hitsounds

well technically speaking, you do "feel" hitsounds

both somatosensation and auditory input are relayed through the thalamus into appropriate cortical areas
