I tested this and it's the same for me. i can confirm 
Comfirm this. Custom spinner bg is dimmed.
It doesnt work , because it is not about this problem.

Yeah, I found this pretty annoying as well. Would be nice if the spinner background didn't darken when SpinnerFadePlayfield is setup so you can't see the background.
