Think about it, we're just a rock floating in the "never ending" universe, and there is probably another planet in another galaxy that has a society, and humans just like us STAY WITH ME HERE.
That society probably has electronics, phones, dogs, cats, you name it, it's probably there. The universe is also thought to be infinite, but if it is, there are probably millions of other societies just like ours and we're not alone

Let me guess, this is because you saw me play Mass Effect Andromeda on my discord status, right?

Since when was the universe infinite? I thought it was constantly expanding.

its exanding in the sense that objects further away from us move away from us faster than objects that are close to us.
This led scientists to the conclusion that space itself is expanding.

imagine a balloon. You paint two dots on it, then you fill it with air. The distance between the dots will increase because the surface of the balloon grows.

Except we're not talking about the surface but about a 3-dimensional space.
And that space might also be infinite, unlike the balloon.

Why are the galaxies still intact then?? If the universe is expanding, why aren't galaxies flying apart? Or why aren't the objects in the universe expanding too?

It's obviously gravity yeah totally

Simple gravity isn't enough?? Look at how weak the gravity of earth is

In the size of galaxies, the distance is massive. Plus it decreased by distance squared!!!!
Tae
blitz, please.
Railey2
earth is pretty light though.
Jupiter is also pretty light, and its gravity is already great enough to squish your internal organs if you set foot on it.
Blitzfrog
And the distance is pretty small

Don't worry mate

they work at a greater distance too.

Thats why the moon orbits the earth and why the earth orbits the sun.
And the sun orbits the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy.

Dammmnnnn

Ok but why galaxies can't gravity towards other buddy galaxies??

but they do

they form groups, such as our group, the Local Group.

These groups gravitate towards other groups, forming a bigger unit called Supercluster.
Our local group is part of the bigger Virgo Supercluster, also called Local Supercluster.

There is an estimated number of 10 million supercluster in the part of the universe that we can see (granted, there's a lot more that we can't see.)

Then these superclusters group up and form massive walls, also called galaxy filaments, the largest known structures in the universe apart from your mom.

constantly expanding

just like my shitposts 8-)

The largest considered structure is the Hercules–Corona Borealis Great Wall which spans around 6 to 10 billion light years. This wall has been identified due to it having higher than usual density of gamma ray bursts. Anything larger would require a yo mama joke.

But if they dooo, how do we know the universe is expanding????

i thought you say we moving awayyy????

Since the cosmic microwave background radiation is present in any direction you look in space and since it is red shifted, the only conclusion you can make is that the distance between us and the CMBR is accelerating as fast the number of shitposts that come up on here each day.

Why can't the radiation be due to loss of energy after traveling in circle-jerking?
abraker

There is some radiation from circle-jerking, but it's insignificant because it's usually countered by the locking effects they seem to exhibit.
Blitzfrog
What is the proportion of radiation between circle-jerking and locking effects? What causes this, radiation, to be amplified by this phenomenon?

The proportion is a subject under heavy study, but the cause is believed to be caused by a phenomenon related to autistic emissions of nearby masses.
