If you have been living under a rock, the internet was blessed with a tool that allows to replace someone's face in a video. Cue all the Cage vids/gifs and fake porn of celebrities. There are now bans on doing this with porn without consent, but there is an argument that it's no different then the already existing photoshopping of such content. Where would you draw the line?

i tried to fap to the 'hottest' one but it took me like 5 mins to get 10% erect at which point i was simply flopping rope around. Smh. My avatar really tells the whole story though doesn't it; I just can't get into anything 3d. Was the first time I'd looked at real life stuff in years I didn't realize how much my reaction to it had waned. Kinda scary.

That aside, I think they are stupid but requiring consent is silly. Photos can't consent, they are objects. There's a defamation argument to be made but when has starring in a sex tape ever been bad publicity

the words "ethical" and "unethical" always make me afraid that someone is about to pretend that something that doesn't actually affect other people (e.g people's preferences and desires) is evil

Defamation isn't a crime, but you can still be sued over it, if such a thing causes "damages". Photos can't consent, but the people in the photos should have to have consented to the taking of the photo in the first place - saying otherwise puts you on a tricky line with dealing with child porn laws, I think.

Starring in a sex tape can do a lot of damage - there's the saying "there's no such thing as bad publicity" but there are instances in which tapes, or even the mere knowledge of something like having had sex have destroyed someone's career. For example, Aya Hirano and, more recently, some other voice actor who I can't remember the name of.

But then you might say "Oh, it's Japan! They're really weird about that stuff!" But they're still humans, and I would not say that it's impossible that any other group of people anywhere doesn't at least share some kind of similar feeling like this about people.

Not really because child porn usually has specific laws to say "plz don't do it" and wouldn't be affected if regular photos didn't need consent vs regular photos did need consent

leaking a sex tape is obviously not good but if X mistreats Y because Y was in a sex tape or had sex at all, X isn't worth Y's time in the first place

Wouldn't those laws be in place because of the minor's inability to consent to something like that in the first place? You don't have to ask for consent in order to wave hello to someone, but you definitely need consent if you want to have sex with someone, and I think that same equivalency is applied to photographs? If it's an innocent photo, then it's like whatever just a photo but if it's porn then it's like "hmmm"

So then what do you say to people who were fired or had their reputations destroyed by such a thing? That their time wasn't worth it to the public/their employer in the first place? That the presidency wasn't worth Bill Clinton's time at all?

that's pretty much why they're in place but since it's a specific separate law, it wouldn't be affected if there was one that even vaguely says photos don't need consent (though i hope photos do need consent? definitely if they're going to be used somewhere)

Well those things might be important to the people in the moment and people might want to work and maintain their reputation (whatever it already is) but I don't think bullying people for having sex is reasonable, it's personal and unrelated to their employment. sex doesn't harm anyone and even though most would rather keep it private, i don't like how strongly they're forced to do it.

they wouldn't be losing reputation for doing anything bad or harming anyone.

that's basically what I mean :(

Society has developed a negative connotation associated with it, mostly stupidity, anti-educational, and poisonous for intellect. Stems from abusing people to get pleasure out of it historically, you know rape, wasting a benjamin for a hookup, and all that.

i always thought there was some kind of law given how like when i was younger the teachers would ask my parents if they wanted my face blurred out in the pic or not

idk

i agree

i think it's stupid that the media (at least here) is so obsessed with who's having sex with who instead of focusing on probably more important things

Did you watch the video, Momiji?

yes, after my initial post that is. which was supposed to be unrelated to the contents of the video anyways, i'm just way more startled than the words "ethical" and "unethical" than i should be and i found nothing wrong with the video itself otherwise lol
DaddyCoolVipper
I think that's understandable, it was a bit of a shock to see myself. I think we've strayed from normie society for too long and become sheltered from how most people actually think about such things, haha.

some of those look really bad anyway, face is flying off the skull.
