I've tried it several times just to make sure it was Osu causing my computer to shut down. I open Osu, I can usually play for a few minutes, then there's a short lag spike, then a few seconds later my computer instantly shuts down. I can do anything else on my computer without problem, but I can't ever make it through a single song on Osu without my computer shutting down. And I usually have to wait 10 minutes for my computer to come back up so I don't want to try it again T_T

And if it makes a difference, all of my drivers are updated.

Hmm, possibly an overheating problem?

But why would Osu overheat my computer?

It's improbable, but possible. Possibly a dusty computer?
Well, here's a link with a few possibilities.

if you run osu with frame limiter off and you have a very good graphics card it will produce thousands of frames per second putting your card to full load.e
this in combination with a bad cooling system inside your tower = shutdown due to overheating

I turned frame limiter off of unlimited and it seems to have worked, but why is it just now doing it? Its always been on unlimited, but my computer has never overheated from it before.

As I have said earlier, possibly dust build-up within your computer, every few months or so, it's a good idea to get that dust out.

open it -> take a vacuum cleaner and go for the dust , dear sir.

keep the FAN's in plance though with your hands, because if they start to rotate because of the vacuum cleaner they might break.

Ha, vacuum cleaner?

Lol no. Enjoy your static discharges and busted hardware.

Just unclip the heatsink, screw off the fan and clean it with qtips or just dry tissue paper.

Easier then you might think it is.

If it is the gpu fan, then just take the card out of the slot and manually clean the fan and heatsink, if needed, unscrew the whole heatsink and give it a throughout cleaning.

Another way is to not remove anything at all and clean it with canned air or a weak air compressor, anything that will just blow air without building up any static electricity will work.

osu! takes up all the frames it can from your video card. so yeah if the hardware overheats, it shuts down automatically to avoid damage :v
it happened to me 4 times.

Solution: go buy a powerful cooler if u wanna play at unlimited framerate

That isn't necessary, even a low end machine can pull of osu! very well despite that a stock cooler might not be all that great. I am fairly certain that it is solely a matter of a clogged up cooler.

This, soooo handy. And then a sock to wipe off dust from outside the case.
