[confirmed] mods sometimes don't adjust the star difficulty / rating

Ive only had this once or twice yet, so I guess this is rather rare and low priority.

Sometimes my maps dont get adjusted in their Stardifficulty when applying HR to it (Nomod 5.77 -> HR 5.77) where a change should absolutely happen. Ive only had this twice on maps, that are unranked in the WIP section and only have one difficulty (map where I had said problem: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/289714).
Ive asked another person to check if it changed for him, which it did - so I guess it's only for the uploader/mapset owner?

Ive fixed that for myself by adding a random second difficulty. After that, HR adjusted the Stardifficulty, even after removing the 2nd diff.

I figured that I'd post it anyway, maybe others have the same problem.

osu! version: 20150610.2beta

Ive also checked a set from a different person that told me that they have the same problem, but it was completely fine for me.
I dont know what's the cause, I just know that it happens.

Yes, seems like it's a bit rare for this to happen.

It might not have calculated the star rating for certain mod combinations (in this case HR) yet, though it should do so pretty much instantly. I vaguely recall someone else posting this before months ago. I can't say I've ever had this though.

I remember this issue from awhile back. We were not able to figure out how to replicate it.

Confirm
Wheneven I have my map (seleP - Alice 2 Alice with HR, the star rating keeps being 7.05 (which is normal), but it should be something like 7.really high, perhaps even 8 (due to low CS)
Also, IIRC, this also happens with EZ, right? (Can't check ATM)

I can't check it because I never had this problem :/

I'd guess that it has something to do with 1-diff maps that are uploaded to wip. I'd test that, but I dont want to spam my map slots.

It also happens to ranked/qualified maps!

Original SR is 5.31, while it's CS7, I don't think EZ keeps it at 5.31

Moved back to Help.

Any replication steps? Or is this just random luck to come across it?

I have the same problem, but just with this specific beatmap: https://osu.ppy.sh/b/740044

No mod:

Hardrock:

Anyways I did delete and redownload, then it worked:

btw same happen with:
https://osu.ppy.sh/b/726981
https://osu.ppy.sh/b/751136
https://osu.ppy.sh/b/771704

I'm the creator of those beatmaps and I did never delete and redownload them, anyways if I do redownload them, it works.

I can't replicate this what so ever but it's clear that this can happen. Confirming.

I've had this happen a lot while I'm mapping - I could consistently create a new map, slap on HR and the difficulty rating wouldn't change.

Not 100% certain if this cause can be replicated 100% of the time, but it's another lead I guess. I'll test it out and report back.

EDIT: have failed to replicate doing this, damn. But, I have in the past had scenarios where the star rating wouldn't change even through restarts and I had to redownload the beatmap (after submitting) for mods - more specifically HR - to affect star rating.
