It's completely useless there, just like when you spectate through it. Also it get very unexpected behaviour.

Does the problem still persist after
  1. restarting the game/pc
  2. going in the editor and out again?

In general you can unbind the skin editor shortcut in settings at which point it will only open if explicitly opened via settings.

That said, I've never seen the skin editor this broken on multiplayer spectator, and I can't seem to make it break the same way. How are you doing that? Can you attach a video or something?

Can you attach the skin you're using there for inspection? I have a suspicion it's doing some nonstandard things.
