Lately i see a lot of Drawings, Imgages, Music, Videos, Advertisements (etc..) slowly being made with Artificial Intelligence. I kinda fear that this type of Technology will be expanded and eventually be normalized with no issue. Not gonna lie, i do like the idea of AI and the ability to imagine stuff, you'd always wanted to see, but using other stuff to create a new one is still one that im not happy with. people can just plagiarise stuff easy as possible and it's frustrating.

I can already imagine how AI will expand quickly and people using it on everyday lives, just like the internet and Smartphones.

Yeah, we will kinda be the first to experience the effects of AI the same way millennials grew up with the internet. I do think that the current AI stigma will die down, and people will become more accepting of AI generated media. Personally I have very little problem with it as long as people say it is AI and don't claim it as their own work.

Now will we get AGI any time soon? probably not since the current state of the art AI architectures (Transformer,Mamba) aren't really capable of reasoning (although they can emulate it with Chain-of-though). I am more interested in seeing how and when AI will be implemented in government decision making and if we will se some kind of technocracy in our life times.

Blud what are you on. LLMs are literal magic. Sure they are not capable of intelligence but that is not the goal of an LLM. LLM's are and were advertised as advanced statistical models that were able to learn human language. only recently did OpenAI and other AI companies start baiting the world by spreading the narrative that "LLM's are intelligent" to boost investment.

I think we're living in a world where AI is normalised. I think all of us have experienced with AI call centres or chatbots at this point. Many arts are also made by AI nowadays and it's indistinguishable from man-made arts. And it's getting normalised too, with some of school textbooks' cover in my country being AI-generated now.

What a sad state of the world we are living in....

On the bright (?) side of AI, I recently tried agentic coding AI (with the comparatively less-powerful Qwen model) and I found it quite useful at doing menial coding tasks (like connecting your app to database or something like that). But it still requires substantial human supervision (as AI is bad at code architecture and it still hallucinates a lot). We're also not at the point where we can simply treat high-level programming language as what we treat assembly today like many tech bros claimed.

Well, Albania recently appointed an AI to a ministerial post so....

Although I doubted LLMs will make a good government decision making tool compared to classical rule-based AI.

no they are not literal magic, they are barbaric creatures incapable of actual independent thought they spit out useless answers 99% of the time and they suck at most things to such a degree that its laughable, but sure, impressive to anyone who doesnt have expertise in a field that the answer/question is associated with. ask anyone with more than enough knowledge in an area and they can call it out on its bullshit

if normies are going to get dumber with time, llms are the thing to cause it, which is not a bad thing to me personally lel, ill watch from the sidelines

Ok, I think we are talking about different things. When I say "LLM's are literal magic" I mean from a technological stand point, how statistical models can emulate human language and thought. LLM's don't actually know anything, they only predict what the most likely next word in a sequence will be. and just by predicting the next word they can display/emulate levels of knowledge that surpass most high-schoolers and undergraduate students.

Also LLM's will not cause people to become dumber. People said the same thing about search engines/google, and said the same thing about TV. I think it might incentivize some lazy behaviors but it will most definitely also help teach stuff way more efficiently and effectively.

Sure LLM's hallucinate, or sometimes the training data contains a lot of wrong info but overall LLM's are a net-positive to humanity.

no they cannot emulate human thought or language, the text they write sounds heavily robotic, the concept has failed... they suck end of story, and yes it is going to make normies dumber because normal people will believe anything llms say due to not knowing any better and it sounding "smart"

i mean hey, they cant even do shit without "assistance"

1. Yes LLM's can emulate human language, actually to a scarily accurate degree, In the game/experiment human or not 40% of games are won by AI. And a lot of users explicitly use language AI doesn't use like slurs or insults as a way of proving their humanity. The reason why it AI sounds so robotic is also partly due to ethics and trying to make LLM's not biased.

2. It does not make "normies" dumber. The example you showed is just someone who is overly confident. I think your hate for LLMs is partly based on misunderstanding what they are. Or maybe you don't actually hate LLMs but you hate the perception people have of them.

3. I am curious on how you define intelligence? do you define it via a metric like IQ? or is it something which isn't quite quantifiable?

again no they cannot emulate human thought or language, you are just proving my point by trying to "defend" llms its pitiful

the mainstream media has brainwashed all consoomers and normies, its over

Didn't take long, it already is normalized

More like mythical tbh, I don't think iwuvkittens goal is to have a reasonable discussion tho.

Unfortunately, it's already somewhat normalised.

I am a student teacher and I already saw heavy use of it at a school I was just at for relatively minor things such as generating stylised portraits of staff members, pictures for student worksheets and even as an aid for teachers to make sure their student report comments comply with the state's writing style.

I personally would not (and do not) touch AI with a 10 foot barge pole and hate seeing people become dependent on it to the point they cannot think without using it. At schools, fostering self-sufficiency in our students needs to be a core part of what we do as teachers so students can learn to become strong and confident in their abilities, relying less on AI tools and more on their brains/previously acquired knowledge to think critically in their lives or whenever learning takes place.
