I’ve been experimenting with playing osu! directly on my laptop trackpad using my fingers (not with a pen or tablet-style emulation). The problem is that the trackpad always feels noticeably delayed compared to a mouse — the input just isn’t as instant or “snappy.”
I’ve also watched a few people trying this playstyle online, but most of them end up customizing some sort of pen/stylus to use on the trackpad, basically emulating a tablet. Even in those cases, though, you can still see a bit of delay just from watching their replays.
So I’m wondering:
Is there any way to tweak Windows/drivers/settings so that a trackpad can respond as quickly as a mouse?
Or are there any laptops with trackpads that are genuinely fast/responsive enough for this kind of play?
For context, I’ve been playing osu! for quite a while and have tried both tablet and mouse extensively. Of course, those two are the “optimal” methods, but I really want to challenge myself with a new style — and if possible, make it my main playstyle long-term rather than just a small experiment. Right now I’m on an MSI laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 7530U integrated graphics (if that matters for drivers/input lag).
Just to be super clear: I’m only interested in playing with my fingers directly on the trackpad ( like how you normally use the trackpad), not with any pen/stylus setups.
Any tips or recommendations would be awesome. Thanks!
