I have this problem for over a year and i can't fix it yet even i try a lot of method that work with other
Sometime frame will drop/freeze and my cursor is also not move when it happen
sometime frame time graph will spike with green line sometime purple line sometime red but most of the time its white or purple line in the white

https://youtu.be/b3bnpg7SpZE?t=135 (2:15)

its not obs lag it really lag in the game

EDIT 1 : after i'm doing more test i suspecting that discord does the problem i played 3 maps and there is no lag when i run discord and play just 1 map it start lagging again but i'm not sure too because its really random when it gonna lag maybe i'm lucky that 3 maps i play earlier is not got any lag and i close all apps except for obs and in new video here is when i lag and just open discord for test if lag come from discord

i download msi afterburner and put it on screen now

EDIT 2: Here i try (For the first time) CPU stress test and benchmark
https://youtu.be/xx5KDzNNnJw (Stress test)
https://youtu.be/nnzzIWyhm-o (Benchmark)

osu! version: Stable 20250815 (latest)

PC Spec:
AMD Ryzen 5 2400G (8 CPUs) 3.6 Gz
Ram 12GB 2400 MHz
GeForce GTX 1050Ti
Windows 10

i have try
Using optimal FPS limiter
disable fullscreen optimization
run as administrator
repair osu!
use default skin
remove every skins in skin folder
disable NVcontainer services
disable every overlay
close every background apps
and more that i can't remember what have i done for over a year

Please try not to run any programs other than osu!.

get aida64 and msi afterburner and check the clocks and power graphs for both cpu and gpu at the moment of that frame drop, maybe you'll find there something

try the same but in cpu stress test instead of osu

well, looks like ram bandwight is beeing bottleneck here. both cpu and gpu are underloaded ingame, while fps drops.

do you have a solution for this? i don't know much about hardware
hurh54
considering you will not change your hardware, you may try to reduce other applications ram access to minimum... by closing them. alas.

discord, steam and other browser-like staff at least

it hard to change hardware right now but i have a plan to buy a new pc set later, anyway i like to know what cause the problem in this case if i have a similar problem later i could troubleshoot by myself faster

in any case playing on unlimited fps is always a questionable idea

and if your system are struggling on 550, than your optimal should be lower

i'm always using optimal Frame limiter as i notice the stutter using unlimited
and now i try chane to power saving and its still not lag
hurh54
optimal is up to 960, power saving is up to 320
both your cpu and gpu are pretty old and cheap, and may be able to do around 600 or so
so optimal option for you effectively the same as unlimited

uh my optimal is running on 600 and my power saving is running on 150 fps for me

i did not know about frame limits in osu being 2x and 8x your screen refresh rates
that means your is 75, so power saving 150 is pretty low and 600 is too much
or maybe not
what you get with unlimited?

when i use unlimited it show 75/75 fps but when i pause is 240 fps and unlimited make me lag very often
hurh54
yeah, it will not show you real fps with unlimited, just up to screen max, but msi afterburner will
and if it start lagging more, i assume there is more fps than you get with optimal

Im also suspecting this is because of discord because when i used to play on windows, discord would make my game have random stutters and it got really annoying. So whenever i was playing i had to reduce the priority for discord to normal and set the affinity to only 2 cores. Maybe you could try that?

I also have a similar setup to the op.

It working i have set it to normal and make it only use 2 cores as you said its fixed but sometime later it change back to high priority again and affinity is set back to all again anyway to not make it reset to normal?

I don't really know about that. However, i do know that it only changes priority when you join a vc, stream in vc or something like that. If you're just going around discord channel it shouldn't change the priority back. I always had my task manager open for this reason just to check if discord changes its priority back or not. It didn't change the affinity at all for me at least.

Also i should mention you only need to do this for the process thats taking the most ram. The others don't really matter as much.

thank you i have been finding a fix for this problem for over a year i try using process lasso to lock priority and affinity
