after backing up the WHOLE osu lazer folder and bringing it back everything seems to be working except beatmaps' mp3 files. logs say that "Beatmap failed to load (file audio.mp3 not found on disk at expected location" although the file is CLEARLY there. similar problem with skins, they are in the skins list but changing the skin does nothing, the name of the skin changes, but the skin itself stays default. ALL the "missing" mp3 files are there (checked manually multiple times) and reinstalling reextracting etc etc doesnt work

If the files do exist on disk then maybe check if the game can actually read them? You haven't specified the OS but this could be something like lack of privileges to read the game directory or something if this is a linux.

Probably attach logs from the game too, they may help here.

sorry, forgot to specify
the os is windows 10 22H2 (os build 19045.6216)
i have had the privilege issues before, but if thats the case how is it able to read everything except the mp3s?
and how do i check if the game has enough privileges so we can exclude this

here is the log file

What privilege issues specifically?

What is the D:/ drive? Is it a normal partition on your hard drive? Some external disk? With what filesystem on it?

I don't know, I've never seen anyone report this sort of thing. If it's really only the .mp3s then I dunno, I would ask if you have antivirus software or something that might have "helpfully" "heuristically" deleted these?

idk how to properly explain but it was something with user privileges in windows and it messed with osu's access to its folder
i solved it a long time ago and this time it doesnt seem like the problem

well, it's not ONLY mp3s, seems like skins have been messed up too (i mentioned it in the original post) but for beatmaps it's only mp3s that are missing
and no i do not have any antiviruses active including windows defender
i have freshly installed OS and i've formatted all disks before installing

it's just a partition

i had a thought that maybe google drive (i used it for backup) somehow messed up my .mp3 files but they open perfectly fine outside osu

Let's try another angle: how are you checking that the game is claiming to be missing are "clearly there"? Please show screenshots as well.

i'll be able to send screenshots in ~2 hours, at work rn
but i can explain
in log file it says something like "cannot find the mp3 file at expected location" and provides the path to expected location
so i went to said location and found the exact "missing" mp3 file
i did it with multiple beatmaps and every time the mp3 file was at "expected location"
all of the .mp3's were not corrupted or smth

btw i didnt find anything related to skins in the log file, thats weird as well

if there are no clues on how can this be solved maybe it will just be easier to import everything from stable again

upd: adding screenshots of "missing" mp3s

I have no idea what this is but just to double-check things that aren't clear from your screenshots because you used windows file search: Please confirm that the file

D:\Programs\osu-lazer\files\0\0b\0b9ebaea42f8661ad50991e08aa549c17b203f217169b96c6da

exists, and has no file extension (so no .mp3 at the end).

If it does not, please provide the full path to the files windows file search found.

i do confirm that this file exists and has no file extension at the end

In that case I have no idea what this is sorry. Your PC is haunted or there’s some specific detail about your setup that you’re not telling me and I’m not going to be able to guess in a hundred years.

If you’re willing to go through reimport from stable then probably do that instead.
