lowkey making me angry that i hit that and now i (probably) have to play 7k just to progress further 4k, i've never liked 7k either so if that's the case i'll just take it and deal with it unless somehow there's a fix for that which isn't spamming cj maps xd

but no, you do NOT need 7k just to improve on 4k. Just play what you like, aim for consistency.
I see that you've changed playstyle and for some reason want to revert, but I wouldn't 100% recommend that unless your current playstyle is boring to you. Branching out to different skillsets is nice, and can be great improvement for skillsets that you previously played.
Say you are a speed main, but suddenly started playing js for all your sessions. You most likely should have better stream control/density reading capability, depending on how you progressed through that skillset. That same control can boost your playability for speed patterns, though you will definitely be slower than you were for a bit. For your peak, at least.
