are phones the antichrist? if we really need phones in the modern age what are our options to prevent all the big corps from spying on us... i heard about pixels because of grapheneos but i'm not sure if it's a good choice or not, someone knowledgeable enlighten me on this topic pls, i have never been a phone person, only receeeeently have i gotten one but the android one i have is so locked down it's unbelievable and filled with google slopware i've debloated most of it like youtube, gmail, (and the list goes on), but thats as far as i can get... so i'm thinking about switching to a pixel to get graphene

Even with grapheneOS if you want to full benefits you shouldn't use google services or install google apps. For most people this will cause them a lot of inconvenience and is overall not worth it.

You can install an alternative OS like Lineage or whatever (I don't know them well), no need to change phone.

This isn't the case at all from what I'm aware of. It's a physical office of a specific religion, and it's located in Rome.

I'm a user of GrapheneOS myself, and it does, in fact, require a Pixel. It's getting harder to install it as a result of Android 16 stripping the Pixel device drivers, though the Graphene devs had actually gotten it working. Maybe wait a bit until the release their OEM model.

That's a good start, but eventually, you'll want to do something about just ditching the phone that doesn't support something like iode, /e/OS (EU only), Graphene or Lineage (that depends on the device). Despite that, Google Pixels with Graphene will be your best option. I'd look at the tutorials from "Side of Burritos" on YouTube for an in-depth installation tutorial.

If you use, for example, Lineage, you can use microG services, an open source alternative to Google Mobile Services. I use it, and its almost the same. For App Installation, just install APKs from trusted sources.

The good thing about the Google Pixel is that it is apparently easy to flash a custom ROM and gain root just by using the terminal.

I got the Galaxy Flip 7 on release and it sucks not being able to even root it. Security feels a bit worse on Android than it does iOS but at least it is easier to debloat it and I've been able to install and run all my important apps and services without using my Google account or Google Play Services (Google Play daemons are quite annoying to disable).
